Abstract: A method, including receiving, by a secure processor housed in a disaster-proof casing located at a local site, recurring wireless signals from an application server and from a storage system that are collocated with the processor at the local site, the application server configured to store data to the primary storage system, and to mirror the data to a remote site, each of the wireless signals indicating a status of the application server or the storage system at a given time. A status log including the respective statuses of the application server and the storage system at the received times is stored to a memory in the casing, and subsequent to failures of the application server, the storage system and the mirroring, the status log analyzed to compute a data loss at the local site resulting from the failures of the application server, the storage system, and the mirroring.

Abstract: Technologies for managing fault recovery in a cloud computing environment may be used after faults of various sizes, including faults which put total functioning capacity below subscribed capacity. Computing services have repair priorities. A fault recovery manager selects a higher priority service whose capacity is below a minimum availability, and chooses a lower priority service still above its minimal availability, and reassigns capacity from the lower priority service to the higher priority service without depriving the lower priority service of operability. Capacity reassignment continues at least until the higher priority service is at or above minimal availability, or the lower priority service is at minimal availability. Lower priority services may also be terminated entirely to free up resources for higher priority services. New deployments may be prevented until all services are at or above minimal availability. Spare capacity may be reserved against demand fluctuations or further faults.

Abstract: An automated self-healing database system is provided that includes a primary database, an application server that writes data to the primary database and reads data from the primary database when it is available, a standby database that is a replica of the primary database, and a self-healing module (SHM). The SHM can automatically detect unavailability of the primary database, and if the standby database is available, the SHM can automatically enable the standby database as readable and writable, assign the standby database the role of primary database at the primary site to start replicating data to other standby databases, and use a pre-established connection between the application server and the standby database to allow the application server to read data from the standby database and to write data to the standby database resulting in the standby database assuming role of the primary database at the primary site.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present application relate to a method, a system, and a computer program product. A method is provided and includes in the event that a check trigger condition is satisfied for a disaster recovery intervention rule in a disaster recovery intervention rule base, automatically checking whether an intervention is to be performed for a session storage medium determined by a session configuration information already loaded in a session configuration file, the checking being performed based on the satisfied disaster recovery intervention rule, in the event that the intervention is determined to be performed, determining a next session storage medium corresponding to the session storage medium requiring intervention, and loading configuration information corresponding to the next session storage medium into the session configuration file to switch the configuration information corresponding to the session storage medium requiring intervention to the configuration information corresponding to the next session storage medium.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed towards fault-tolerant methods, systems and architectures for data distribution. One method includes generating fault distribution tables. The table entries correspond to a copy of data records. The entry and copy are associated with a fault status, a node, and a group that are based on a position of the entry within the distribution table. The method also includes storing the copy of the data record that corresponds to the entry in a database that is included in a plurality of databases. In response to determining an unavailable node included in the plurality of nodes, the method determines a fault status, a node, and a group. The method provides an available node sequential access to data records that are stored in a particular database that is stored locally on the available node in a tree structure.

Abstract: According to some embodiments, a virtual machine manager is operable to manage a virtual machine (VM) that spans a plurality of hardware appliances. The virtual machine manager receives a request to provide a service to a device, selects an application instance to provide the service to the device, and forwards the request for the service to the selected application instance. The selected application instance is running in an instance of the virtual machine associated with a first hardware appliance. The virtual machine manager determines session data associated with the service and provides the session data associated with the service to a second hardware appliance of the VM in order to enable the VM to provide high availability of the service to the device.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are innovations in memory management and data recovery for systems that operate using storage class memory (SCM), such as non-volatile RAM (NVRAM). The disclosed innovations have particular application to production database systems, where reducing database downtime in the event of a system crash is highly desirable. Embodiments of the disclosed technology can address a variety of problems that exist during a system crash. For example, embodiments of the disclosed technology can be used to address the loss of the physical memory mapping and/or the loss of the CPU cache that typically occurs in the event of a system crash. Furthermore, embodiments of the disclosed technology can be used to prevent data inconsistency and/or memory leak problems that may arise in the event of a system crash.

Abstract: An electronic device able to re-initialize following a failed initialization has a processor, a first storage device, and a second storage device. The processor receives storage information stored at the first storage device and sets a plurality of storage parameters of the first storage device, according to the storage information, and re-initializing the first storage device based on the storage parameters. When the initialization fails, the processor adjusts the storage parameters of the first storage device and re-initializes the first storage device based on the adjusted storage parameters.
