Abstract:
An optical fiber resin coating apparatus having an ultraviolet flash lamp used for coating an optical fiber by an ultraviolet curing resin, a lamp lighting circuit for making the ultraviolet flash lamp emit light, and a control circuit for controlling this lamp lighting circuit. The control circuit detects the intensity and emission time of ultraviolet light emitted from the ultraviolet flash lamp by an ultraviolet sensor and supplies a voltage and excitation time to the power source for exciting the ultraviolet flash lamp based on this. As the ultraviolet light source, at least one ultraviolet laser diode or ultraviolet light emitting diode may be used instead of an ultraviolet flash lamp. The ultraviolet light source may be arranged to emit ultraviolet light so that the coating portion of the ultraviolet curing resin exhibits an inclined profile where the intensity of the ultraviolet light gradually changes according to the position.
Abstract:
A tin layer and a zinc layer are stacked sequentially on a given substrate to form a multilayered film composed of the tin layer and the zinc layer. Then, a laser beam is irradiated onto the multilayered film to produce a tin-zinc alloy film through the inter-diffusion between the tin elements of the tin layer and the zinc elements of the zinc layer.
Abstract:

A method of producing a magnetic recording medium, and an apparatus thereof in which coercive force can be detected in an in-line mode, a metal thin film magnetic layer can be produced stably, and a vapor deposition film having a stable quality can be obtained. A method of producing a magnetic recording medium, comprising the steps of forming a metal thin film magnetic layer on a substrate, irradiating a light to a surface of the metal thin film magnetic layer, and measuring lightness of a reflected light from the surface to monitor coercive force of the metal thin film magnetic layer.
Abstract:
Polymeric substrate are coated by a process comprising pretreating the polymeric substrate by at least one physical method selected from the group consisting of corona discharge, flaming, glow discharge, irradiation with electromagnetic waves, and a plasma pretreatment, then coating the pretreated polymeric substrate with a composition comprising a fluoroalkyl-containing silicon compound. The resulting coated is very thin, highly hydrophobic and oleophobic. The coatings prepared by the process of the present invention are stable in boiling water and are resistant to abrasion.

A process and an apparatus for the repair of the protective coating on converted can ends comprises a repair agent application station for the selective application of a radiation-curable repair agent onto at least a portion of the converted can ends, a repair agent curing station for the curing of the repair agent applied to the converted can ends, and a transport system for conveying the converted can ends from the repair agent application station to the repair agent curing station.
Abstract:
A method of maintaining a plasma electrode and a substrate holder in a deposition chamber of a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition system is provdied. Each of the plasma electrode and the substrate holder comprises an aluminum-based material coated with an alumina protection film. The method comprises the steps of: after a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition process is carried out to a substrate, taking out the substrate from the deposition chamber; introducing a reaction gas into the deposition chamber; causing a reaction of the reaction gas for cleaning an inner wall of the deposition chamber; introducing an oxygen-containing gas into the deposition chamber; and generating an oxygen-containing gas plasma to form the alumina protection film on surfaces of the plasma electrode and the substrate holder.

Abstract:
A method of applying a material to a substrate includes depositing on the substrate an ink-based solution comprising thermally expandable particles and exposing the substrate to microwave radiation such that the particles become at least partially expanded.
Abstract:
A thermal reflow processing system has a rotatable structure to which articles having a reflowable surface are attached. The structure is coupled to a drive motor which causes the structure to rotate at speeds which generate centripetal forces in excess of that of gravity. The system is equipped with at least one radiant heat source. As the articles are being subjected to a centripetal force, the surface is heated by the radiant heat source.
