    Abstract: In an embodiment a measuring unit includes a light emitting LED component including a housing occupying a housing surface G and an LED chip located within the housing, the LED chip including a light emitting light surface L and being configured to emit light; a photodetector configured to detect reflected light reflected from a measured object originating from the LED component and output a measurement signal dependent on a detection of the reflected light; and an integrated circuit configured to evaluate the measurement signal, wherein the LED component, the photodetector, and the integrated circuit are combined into an integrated unit; and a conversion layer disposed in the housing and located above the LED chip, the conversion layer configured to convert the light into multiband light, wherein a ratio L/G of is greater than or equal to 0.8, and wherein the measuring unit is configured to optically measure at least one property of the measured object.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to an infrared spectrometer comprising first and second opposing reflectors spaced apart by a spacing length, and a plurality of discrete concave reflecting facets, the reflecting facets being facets of at least one of the opposing reflectors. An infrared laser source is arranged to form a laser beam. The opposing reflectors are arranged such that the laser beam is reflected alternately from each of the opposing reflectors, including being reflected at least once by each of the reflecting facets. A detector is arranged to detect spectral properties of the laser beam after reflection from each of the plurality of reflecting facets, and an analyser then determines properties of a sample disposed between the first and second opposing reflectors from the detected spectral properties.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for measuring a fundamental mode vibrational spectrum of materials and substances in the Mid-IR spectral range of 2.5 μm to 14 μm wavelength. In one embodiment, a Mid-infrared FT-IR spectrometer system measures, identifies, or quantifies substances in the spectral range 2.5 μm to 14 μm. The system includes an infrared Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) single element emitter light source. The light source is configured in operation to be electrically pulsed and to emit electromagnetic radiation in the wavelength range from 2.5 μm to 14 μm and with integral energy concentrating optic to provide energy for a spectral absorption process. A scanning beam splitter is positioned in an interferometer optical path with fixed angle mirrors and a thermal detector having a sensitivity to determine a maximum optical sensitivity of the system.

    Abstract: The single-use disposable spectrophotometer described in this disclosure can measure one or more blood chemistry analytes from a drop of whole blood. A passive filtration system takes whole blood and delivers plasma along with a dissolved reporter molecule to one or more spectrophotometers which can operate with narrow band optical spectrum centered on an optical detection frequency. The spectrophotometer detects the changes in absorption of the plasma as a result of a chemistry reaction to determine the concentration or activity of one or more analytes.
