    Abstract: In one embodiment, a robotic end effector configured to mount to a robotic manipulator includes gripping elements configured to grasp objects, a drive mechanism configured to open and close the gripping elements, a central controller configured to control operation of the drive mechanism and the gripper elements, the central controller hosting a control program that enables control of the end effector independent of the robotic manipulator, and at least one of a forward-facing ultrasonic distance sensor configured to measure a distance between the gripping elements and an object to be grasped, and a forward-facing camera mounted between the gripping elements configured to capture video data of an object to be grasped.

    Abstract: A hydrogen evolution assisted electroplating nozzle includes a nozzle tip configured to interface with a portion of a substructure. The nozzle also includes an inner coaxial tube connected to a reservoir containing an electrolyte and an anode, the inner coaxial tube configured to dispense the electrolyte through the nozzle tip onto the portion of the substructure. The nozzle also includes an outer coaxial tube encompassing the inner coaxial tube, the outer coaxial tube configured to extract the electrolyte from the portion of the substructure. The nozzle also includes at least one contact pin configured to make electrical contact with a conductive track on the substrate.

    Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for performing a join operation using a graphics processing unit (GPU). The GPU can receive input data including sequences or tuples. The GPU can initialize a histogram in a memory location shared by threads. The GPU can build the histogram of hash values for the sequences. The GPU can reorder the sequences based on the histogram. The GPU can probe partitions and store the results in a buffer pool. The GPU can output the results of the join.

    Abstract: Task assignment for multi-robot systems (MRSs) in a smart factory (Industry 4.0) is described. Aspects are directed to a hypergraph based MRS and production model facilitating the cooperation among robots and serving frequent reconfiguration desired in Industry 4.0. Aspects are directed to a time complexity friendly search algorithm for real-time application using a hypergraph model to get task assignment(s). Parameters are provided for a tradeoff between solution optimality and time complexity. In an implementation, a system comprises a MRS comprising robots, wherein the MRS is configured to perform a manufacturing task, and a computing device configure to perform a multi-robot task allocation (MRTA) for the MRS. In an implementation, a method comprises generating task assignments, using MRTA, for robots of a MRS comprising the robots, wherein the MRS is configured to perform a manufacturing task, and providing the task assignments to the MRS.

    Abstract: The disclosed subject matter relates to methods for monitoring or controlling a manufacturing process of a material by determining when a variation in surface characteristics takes place. Such surface characteristics correlates to the processing condition of the material and can include density, roughness, porosity, or planarity on a surface of the material. The methods can include herein can include directing a solvent or energy on a surface of the material to form an at least partially modified surface, directing light at an incident angle with respect to the at least partially modified surface, measuring one or more predetermined properties of light reflected from the at least partially modified surface, determining that the material is fully processed based on the measured predetermined property of the light reflected, and optionally adjusting a processing parameter of the manufacturing process in response to the measured predetermined property.
