Abstract:
A wearable device for vibration and/or percussion treatment, such as a covering configured to be worn by a person, such as patient, around the chest of the person, a plurality of actuators provided at the covering, and a control system in communication with the actuators and configured to provide independent and sequential operation of the actuators to generate progressive constriction and relaxation for providing movement of material in a person's lungs in the direction of the sequential operation of the actuators.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a kinesiologic tape which is provided with at least one molded body, said molded body comprising metal, healing stones, wood, ceramics and/or combinations thereof.
Abstract:
Portable force feedback controllers (PFFCs) designed to be worn on a user's limb, track the movement of the user's limb, and provide force feedback capability. In some embodiments, the PFFCs may include interchangeable modules that can be quickly and easily connected and disconnected so that the PFFC may be easily modified for a particular application. In yet other embodiments, various PFFC modules are moveably coupled and have at least one degree of freedom so that the PFFC can accurately follow the natural movements of a user's limb.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus (10) for performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation comprising a resuscitation device configured for autonomously performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, a stimulation device (12) configured for stimulating the endothelial function including nitric oxide synthase pathway in a patient in need thereof, and a controller for controlling the resuscitation device and/or the stimulation device.
Abstract:
We disclose methods and medical device systems for selectively recruiting a nerve fiber type within a cranial nerve, a peripheral nerve or a spinal root. Such a method may comprise applying a first pressure, a heating, and/or a cooling to a second location of the nerve, the pressure, heating, or cooling sufficient to substantially block at least one of activation or conduction in at least one fiber population through the second location of the nerve for a blocking time period; and applying an electrical signal to a first location during the blocking time period to prevent or treat an undesirable brain state change.
Abstract:
A therapeutic appliance includes a water pack, at least one massaging finger, a recirculating water system and a thermoelectric device. The massaging finger has a vibrator disposed on the water pack to exciting liquid in the water pack for massaging a body portion to be massaged. The recirculating water system has a container and a conduit connecting the container and the water pack such that the liquid is permitted to circulate between the container and the water pack. In addition, the thermoelectric device is disposed in the container of the recirculating water system for heating or cooling the liquid.
Abstract:
A hand-held massage device and methods for applying pressure therapies to various parts of the anatomy using the device are provided. The device is an elongated, rigid, substantially planar member, configured with a series of alternating concave and convex shapes, and a knob-like projecting member at an end thereof.
Abstract:
A wearable tactile stimulation device can include a facial mask, an air-suit, and a pair of gloves. A wearable tactile stimulation device can include integrated conduits and nozzles configured to deliver tactile stimulation to portions of a users face, hands, and/or body. The tactile stimulation can be delivered via puffs of air transmitted through the conduits and nozzles. A controller can be configured to control tactile stimulation by controlling the generation and delivery of puffs of air. The puffs can be delivered individually, or in combination.
Abstract:
A portable arm massager has an arm cuff supported by a supporting base. The arm cuff has two cuff portions connected by a hinge, allowing the cuff to open so that a user may place their arm within the cuff. The cuff may be switched from a left to right position for the user's left or right arm, or two stationary cuffs may be used. A plurality of massaging rollers on the internal surface of the cuffs provides massage pressure. A control panel allows multiple users to change a variety of massage settings which can be saved and recalled as personal presets.
Abstract:
A therapy wrap for treatment of at least a portion of an animate body having improved kink resistance. The therapy wrap may be selectively reinforced for improved kink resistance in only a portion of the wrap. The reinforcement may decrease the kink radius. The wrap may include a kink reducer in all or only a selected kink-prone region. The kink reducer may be selectively configured attachment points or spot welds. The therapy wrap may include a reinforcement layer of one or more discrete reinforcement members. The wrap may be formed by pre-tensioning the material layers while forming the fluid bladder and/or gas pressure bladder. The therapy wrap may be adapted to compensate for conditions that normally cause kinking of the wrap or buckling of the fluidic channels. Also disclosed are methods of manufacturing the wrap and methods of administering a temperature-controlled treatment to an anatomical body part.
