Abstract:
A pressure-sensitive adhesive layer-attached polarizing film of the invention includes: a polarizing film; and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer provided on the polarizing film, wherein the polarizing film includes a polarizer and a transparent protective film provided on only one side of the polarizer, the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is provided on a side of the polarizer where the transparent protective film is absent, and the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is made of a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition containing a (meth)acryl-based polymer (A) and an alkali metal salt (B). The pressure-sensitive adhesive layer-attached polarizing film has a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer with an antistatic function and satisfactory durability and whose optical properties are less likely to be degraded.
Abstract:
The present invention is a layered optically clear adhesive including a first pressure-sensitive optically clear adhesive, a second pressure-sensitive optically clear adhesive, and a flowable optically clear adhesive positioned between the first and the second pressure-sensitive optically clear adhesives.
Abstract:
Methods of making cut adhesive articles are described. The methods involve: providing a crosslinked pressure sensitive adhesive layer disposed on a substrate, embossing a surface of the crosslinked pressure sensitive adhesive layer to form a microstructured crosslinked pressure sensitive adhesive layer having a microstructured adhesive surface, and die cutting the microstructured crosslinked pressure sensitive adhesive layer.
Abstract:
This invention provides a surface protection sheet that allows for easy application to an adherend surface with good removability. The surface protection sheet provided by this invention comprises a PSA layer and a support substrate supporting the PSA layer. The surface protection sheet has a peel strength (SA) after adhered to a stainless steel plate and stored at 23° C. for 30 minutes, and a peel strength (SB) after adhered on a stainless steel plate and stored at 70° C. for 168 hours, at a peel strength ratio (SB/SA) of 5 or less. The surface protection sheet has a peel strength to itself of 5 N/25 mm or less when the PSA layer is adhered to itself and peeled apart after one minute.
Abstract:
A flexible tubular tape product includes a hollow tape tube formed from a spiral wound strip of overlapping pressure sensitive adhesive coated tape. The hollow tube defines an empty interior core space. The outside surface of the hollow tape tube is coated with the pressure sensitive adhesive. A flexible core shaft is positioned inside the interior core space of the hollow tape tube in order to impart some body and ease of handling to the tape tube product.
Abstract:
Various labels for use in adverse environments are described. The labels are particularly well suited for applications in which a permanent label bond is required. The labels utilize a two stage adhesive which is initially in the form of a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) and then upon heating, converted to a permanent non-PSA.
Abstract:
Water-activatable, linerless adhesive articles and related methods are described. The adhesive articles utilize a dry, non-tacky protective layer for protecting the adhesive layer from contamination and therefore do not require a release liner. The protective layer includes at least one of amorphous polyvinyl alcohol and poly(ethylene oxide). The adhesive articles are bonded to a substrate by applying a polar solvent, such as water, to the protective layer, which mix to form a tacky material. The tacky material forms a weak, temporary bond with the substrate and allows the adhesive articles to be repositioned on the substrate. The tacky material gradually pools together at the substrate/adhesive article interface to expose the underlying adhesive layer. The exposed adhesive layer then forms a permanent bond with the substrate.
