Abstract:
In facsimile-communicating an original when the Internet selection state in an operation unit is set to “automatic selection”, the original is communicated by selecting the e-mail-based Internet for an A4 original size, and the session-based Internet for a B4 or A3 original size. At the same time, the original information is transmitted in accordance with the transmission mode of its own apparatus, the encoding method determined based on the reception capability of a facsimile apparatus at a reception destination, and the receiving-side output original size and resolution.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for tracking a data file corresponding to printed material scanned into a digital transmitter are provided. A database is searched for a tracking number contained in the data file to determine whether the data file is stored in the database. A confirmation message is sent indicating that the data file has been stored in the database upon locating the tracking number. An error message is sent indicating that the data file has not been stored in the database when the tracking number cannot be found in the database.
Abstract:
A network facsimile apparatus is connected to a local area network, has a function of performing data transmission using electronic mail, and has a function of transmitting facsimile data to and receiving facsimile data from a facsimile apparatus using a predetermined facsimile transmission procedure via a public network. A control method of the network facsimile apparatus includes the steps of a) storing at least one distribution file; and b) when an instruction to transmit the distribution file has been given by a user, having the user specify the distribution file to be transmitted, having the user input a transmission-destination mail address, and transmitting the thus-specified distribution file to the thus-inputted mail address using the electronic mail.
Abstract:
Image data gathered by a scanner portion is stored into an image file, and stored into a hard disc. A client terminal requests a copy server to send management information of the image files in the hard disc. A control portion that receives the file management information request reads out file management information on the image files in a requested directory, from the hard disc, and sends it to a client terminal. An operator selects an image file on the basis of the management information, and the copy server is requested to down load a corresponding image file.
Abstract:
A data forwarding system allows receivers with limited capabilities to receive information that was transmitted in a format which the user could not otherwise receive. For example, a receiver which does not include a fax modem may receive faxes which are transmitted to a station. The station receives the fax transmission and transmits it on to the receiver in a format compatible with the receiver's hardware and software. In addition, transactions which occur at a variety of sites may be transmitted to a remote station which then forwards the information about the transactions to the user's receiver. At the receiver, the information may be analyzed using conventional accounting software.
Abstract:
A card interface or the like having compatibility is employed for connecting a communication module or the like for transmitting and/or receiving data. The communication module is changed so as to realize a variety of functions without enlargement of the size of the apparatus. The connection has compatibility so that a function module for adding and/or changing functions is employed in addition to the communication module. Therefore, the function can be improved without the cost rising.
Abstract:
A personal media player (PMP) uses a digital media processing systemnullcomprising a video rendering subsystem, a music rendering subsystem, and a picture rendering subsystemnullto produce moving-video (video), audio (music), still-graphics (picture), and other output rendered from media files ported to the PMP from another source. The PMP further comprises a user interface system, a display unit system, a power source system, and a data port system utilizing Universal Plug and Play functionality, all of which are coupled directly or indirectly to the digital media processing system. The physical components constituting the aforementioned systems and subsystems are then encased in a portable housing unit suitable for hand-held use and ready portability.
Abstract:
To design an integrated circuit device, i.e., a main ASIC, that can easily be used for both communications and image data processing. To use the ASIC for the purpose of image data processing, the ASIC is set to a first operation mode, wherein a printer engine and a laser scanner are controlled via a printer engine controller and laser scanner controller. To use the ASIC for the purpose of communications, it is set to a second operation mode, wherein communications data is received from a remote device connected to a network chip via a network. In this manner, the ASICs with the same hardware configuration can be used in different purposes while switching operation modes.
Abstract:
A multifunction machine/server system capable of dealing with electronic documents at a higher efficiency and being actualized at low costs, is disclosed. The multifunction machine executes, when given a request for a second kind of process, the requested second kind of process without linkage with the server, and, when given a request for a first kind of process, requests the server to execute the first kind of process. The server incorporates a function of executing the first kind of processes that a plurality of multifunction machines request the server to execute. The multifunction machine/server system is constructed of the thus structured server and the plurality of thus structured multifunction machines.
Abstract:
A facsimile apparatus is connected to a mail server, and receives an electric tail from a mail box. A header analyzing unit analyzes a header portion of the received electric mail so as to obtain a sender ID. Next, a transfer determination unit matches the obtained sender ID and a content of a sender ID column of a transfer management table. When a match is found, the transfer determination unit reads a content of a transfer destination ID column corresponding to the sender ID column in the transfer management table and a content of a transfer attribute column. An appended file portion is deleted from the electric mail in accordance with the content of the read transfer attribute column, “deletion process.” Thereafter, the electric mail from which the appended file portion is deleted is transferred to a transfer destination registered in the read transfer destination ID column.
