Abstract:
A system of lasers and detectors to detect the presence of objects and determine their speed is disclosed. The system comprises of a pair of lasers and a pair of detectors focused through a single lens. An electronic board that accompanies the lasers and detectors is used to provide the logic and decision making mechanism. Data collected and processed by the system yields such information as whether an object is present, whether is stationary or is moving, and subsequent speed information. The described system is also capable if desired of providing additional information concerning the characteristics of the moving object such as its profile and length, and indication of a traffic violation.
Abstract:
A disposable absorbent pad is removably attachable to the upper surface of the visor of a helmet, hardhat, cap or other headgear. The pads are made in various sizes, shapes and colors to conform to the visors to which they may be applied. Their obverse sides consist of a high-capacity absorbent material, while their reverse sides contain an adhesive strip, for hard visor surfaces, or hook-and-loop strips, for fabric visors. The pads prevent liquid/moisture from dripping off the visor into the face and eyes of the wearer and are disposably replaceable after each use.
Abstract:
A Trident Probe Groundwater Exchange System (NC#096456). The apparatus includes a groundwater conductivity sensor, designed to determine a groundwater conductivity surface; a water conductivity sensor, designed to determine a surface water conductivity groundwater; a temperature sensor, designed to determine a groundwater temperature; a surface water temperature sensor, designed to determine a surface water temperature; and a processor operatively coupled to a plurality of sensors and designed to receive information from the plurality of sensors.

Abstract:
A compact system for determining the presence and speed of an object/vehicle, and its application for Red Light Camera photo-enforcement is disclosed. The disclosed system uses accurate timing, laser radiation in the form of optical pulses, and the scattering effect of optical pulses from the road or vehicle surface to determine the presence of a vehicle, and estimate its speed. The system can determine whether an object/vehicle is present at a specific location, estimate its height, and in the case that the object/vehicle is moving, the system can estimate its speed. Combining the disclosed technology with commercially available digital recording techniques and equipment, a traffic photo-enforcement system can be constructed. The system is capable of monitoring traffic in an intersection/highway, measure vehicle speed, identify potential traffic violations, and trigger a visual recording device such as a camera or video system for documenting a violation. The system can serve as a tool by law enforcement agencies and research groups for other applications, such as measurement of traffic density, monitor vehicle speed, and the study of traffic patterns. Other important information that can be generated from the disclosed system is the profile of a moving object/vehicle, the length of the moving object/vehicle, and whether the moving object/vehicle was accelerating or decelerating. Further analysis of the recorded data can yield information relevant to the make and model of the passing vehicles.
Abstract:
A method and system for generating vapors of liquid solutions where a pneumatically modulated liquid delivery system maintains a defined flow rate for a liquid solution. The pneumatically modulated liquid delivery system includes a flow meter configured to measure a flow rate for the liquid solution flowing from a pressure vessel; a microcontroller configured to determine a pressure necessary to achieve the defined flow rate; and an electronic pressure control unit configured to adjust the pressure inside the pressure vessel. The system includes a nebulizer coupled to the pneumatically modulated liquid delivery system configured to receive the liquid solution from the pneumatically modulated liquid delivery system at the defined flow rate and configured to generate an aerosol of the liquid solution. A heat tube can vaporize the aerosol generated by the nebulizer.

Abstract:
A mobile communications network comprises a PCN network (60-64) including a plurality of radio cells under the jurisdiction of an MSC (mobile-services switching center). One or more of said cells comprise a fixed base (60, 61) for a mobile subscriber (71). Location information regarding the fixed bases being stored in a fixed location register (FLR). When the mobile subscriber roams into such a fixed base location (60, 61) a respective service type is provided. In particular, the fixed base may be a business site (60) with a PABX network. When the mobile subscriber roams into the business site, calls involving him are routed via the PCN network or rather the base station controller (BSC) thereof, which is intelligent in that it has MSC functionality located thereat. Thus a mobile phone can act as a desk phone, with all the same services provided, whilst the mobile subscriber is within the business fixed base.
