Abstract:
In a process for surfacing a hardwood veneer with a plastic film, one surface of the hardwood veneer is first sanded to provide a smooth surface for prefinishing, followed by the application of a stain or toner to achieve the desired color and appearance of the panel. A first coat of adhesive is applied to the smooth surface of the panel and allowed to dry, followed by the application of a second coat of adhesive which is also subsequently dry. Next, the panel is heated to reactivate both coats of adhesive, and a clear plastic film is applied to the smooth surface of the hardwood veneer and laminated thereto. Next, an ultra-violet curable topcoat is applied to the plastic sheet and allowed to cure, thereby resulting in a surface that has excellent scratch, mar and burnish resistance.
Abstract:
A vinyl film-wood product substrate laminate is formed using as an adhesive a mixture of a vinyl acetate-ethylene emulsion and an admixture of toluene and N-lower alkyl substituted pyrrolidone.
Abstract:
The flame spread rating of Lauan plywood panels is reduced significantly by incorporating, just prior to application, a quantity of sodium bicarbonate in dry powder form or slurry and a quantity of a saturated aqueous solution of sodium tetraborate, respectively, in the water base filler and the water base basecoat used to finish the surface thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a weather channel that provides a user of a mobile electronic device simple access to weather information, such as local weather, national and international weather, user selected cities, as well as weather alerts and messages. The user may customize the weather content they receive on their devices. Users are able to view weather information based on their preferences. While using the weather channel, users automatically receive broadcast weather information, including local weather information (current temperature, forecast information, sunset, sunrise, humidity, UV index, and the like); selected city information, national and international weather, and weather alerts and messages that are easy to navigate.
Abstract:
A decorative panel and process for producing the same are provided. The panel includes a wood base substrate to which an ink imprinted decorative paper is adhered. An isocyanate solution is applied to the decorative paper and is allowed to penetrate into the paper to fortify the inks and paper. The partially completed panel then is subjected to drying to remove the solvent used to transport the isocyanate into the paper. A top coat of a photo-curable material then is applied to the panel, and the panel is subjected to appropriate radiation for curing the top coat.
Abstract:
A clamp that may be attached to a vehicle door to hold the door closed without damaging the vehicle is described. The device may be used by a police officer to secure the door of the vehicle, thereby preventing the occupants from opening the door suddenly and injuring the officer or fleeing. The mechanism for closing the clamp may be powered by a number of means, including an electrical motor, a hand pull, a spring, compressed air, and the like. The device includes a means for releasing the clamp when the officer no longer has reason to suspect that the occupants will injure him or flee.
Abstract:
A lamination process is provided for the lamination of a vinyl film to a cellulosic substrate, such as a wood product, e.g., particleboard, wherein grain swelling of the substrate is avoided. The process involves coating the wood product substrate with an organic polyisocyanate having at least two active isocyanate groups per molecule as a primer coat, and thereafter applying a vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer emulsion adhesive to the primed substrate to form an interlaminate adhesive layer. A vinyl polymeric film is then applied to the adhesive-coated substrate to form a permanently bonded laminate of the substrate and the film. The lamination process of the present invention is particularly suitable for use in a continuous hot-line heat reactivated laminating procedure.
Abstract:
A cellulosic substrate is coated by applying a polyurethane adhesive thereto, drying the adhesive, coating the adhesive with an ultraviolet curable solid polyacrylate resin and then curing the composite structure with ultraviolet rays.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a stocks channel and a news channel to a user on a mobile device. Stocks based content associated with a stocks channel and news content associated with the news channel is automatically delivered and stored on a mobile electronic device for access by a user. Using the device, users can quickly access the stock and news information without having to type in information, or specifically request the information to be downloaded to the device. The stock channel and the news channel provides a quicker and less cumbersome way of accessing stock and news information than having to access a web site, a television, a radio station, or a telephone service.
