    Abstract: A transparent base material for a liquid crystal device includes an alignment layer that regulates orientations of liquid crystal molecules contained in a light control layer included in the liquid crystal device, a flexible base layer on which the alignment layer is formed, and a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The first surface is located on the alignment layer, the second surface is located on the base layer, the alignment layer includes polyimide, and the first surface has an indentation hardness of 0.25 GPa or higher as measured by a nanoindentation test according to ISO 14577-1:2015.

    Abstract: A light source unit, a light receiving unit including a distance image sensor in which a plurality of pixels are arranged and a pixel driving circuit, and a distance calculation unit calculating a distance to a subject based on electric charge amount accumulated in each of the charge accumulation units are provided, and a relationship between the emission timing and the accumulation timing is set such that electric charges corresponding to reflected light of the optical pulse reflected from the subject is accumulated in any of the three or more charge accumulation units provided in the pixels, and the distance calculation unit calculates the distance to the subject by using the same calculation equation regardless of which two charge accumulation units, in which electric charges are successively accumulated, among the three or more charge accumulation units provided in the pixels accumulate the electric charges corresponding to the reflected light.

    Abstract: A range imaging device includes a light receiving unit including pixel circuits each including a photoelectric conversion device, charge storages, and transfer transistors, and a pixel driver circuit that distributes and stores charge in the storages at storage timing synchronized with emission of light pulse, a light source unit that emits the pulse, and a range image processing unit that measures distance to subject based on quantities of charge stored in the respective storages. The range image processing unit detects, without emission of the pulse, interference light based on difference between maximum and minimum values of quantity of interference charge stored in each storage, in cycle and the storage timing same as those with emission of the pulse, before the distance is measured, and the range image processing unit changes emission timing of the pulse and storage timing and measures the distance in response to detection of the interference light.

    Abstract: A range imaging element includes a pixel circuit positioned on a semiconductor substrate and including a photoelectric converter that generates electric charge, a charge storage that stores the charge, a transfer MOS transistor on a transfer path for transferring the charge from the photoelectric converter to the charge storage, and a discharge MOS transistor on a discharge path for discharging the charge from the photoelectric converter. The photoelectric converter is N-gonal (N being an integer equal to or greater than 4) in plan view and provided on the semiconductor substrate. The transfer MOS and discharge MOS transistors are each located on any side of the photoelectric converter, and at least one of the transfer MOS and discharge MOS transistors has a tapered shape that has a width dimension parallel with the side on which the MOS transistor is located and gradually decreasing within the photoelectric converter away from the side.

    Abstract: A light control sheet includes two transparent substrate layers each including an electrode layer, and a light control layer formed between the two transparent substrate layers. The light control layer includes a transparent resin layer defining a void, a liquid crystal composition filling the void, and a spacer that determines a thickness of the light control layer. Each transparent substrate layer in the light control sheet has external haze of less than 0.1%, and each transparent substrate layer in the light control sheet has internal haze of 0.1% or more and 2.0% or less.
