Abstract: A rocker arm includes a body having a first wall and a second with a central opening provided therebetween, the first wall having a first aperture extending therethrough and the second wall having a second aperture extending therethrough. An inner follower within the central opening selectively reciprocates along a reciprocation axis relative to the body, the inner follower extends through the first aperture and the second aperture. A lost motion spring biases the inner follower to move relative to the body along the reciprocation axis in a first direction. A lock member is moveable along a lock member axis between a coupled position which prevents the inner follower from moving past a predetermined position in a second direction which is opposite of the first direction and a decoupled position which permits the inner follower to move past the predetermined position in the second direction.

Abstract: A rocker arm includes an outer arm having a first wall and a second wall and an inner arm which selectively pivots relative to the outer arm about a pivot shaft axis of a pivot shaft based on positioning of a lock pin. A lost motion spring includes an outer arm tang grounded to the outer arm and an inner arm tang grounded to the inner arm. A roller shaft is supported by the inner arm and extends toward the first wall. The roller shaft carries a roller which follows a camshaft. A roller retainer is carried by the roller shaft and is located between the roller and the first wall and includes a surface with which the inner arm tang is engaged to ground the lost motion spring to the inner arm, a roller shaft aperture containing the roller shaft, and a pivot shaft aperture containing the pivot shaft.

Abstract: An outlet and pressure relief valve assembly for a fuel pump includes a housing which extends along an axis from an inner end to an outer end. The housing has a bore which extends thereinto along the axis from the inner end. A valve seat is located within the bore and has an end wall which is transverse to the axis and also has a sidewall which is annular in shape and extends away from the end wall. An outlet flow passage extends through the end wall such that the outlet flow passage is centered about the axis. A pressure relief flow passage extends through the end wall such that the pressure relief flow passage is laterally spaced from the outlet flow passage. An outlet valve member is located within the valve seat sidewall and a pressure relief valve member is located between the valve seat and the inner end.

Abstract: A fuel pump includes a fuel pump housing with a pumping chamber and an outlet valve bore extending along an outlet valve bore axis; a pumping plunger which reciprocates within a plunger bore along a plunger bore axis which is traverse to the outlet valve bore axis; and an outlet valve assembly. The outlet valve assembly includes an outlet valve seat with an outlet flow passage, wherein a first portion of the outlet valve seat is aligned with the pumping plunger in a direction parallel to the plunger bore axis and wherein a second portion of the outlet valve seat is not aligned with the pumping plunger in a direction parallel to the plunger bore axis and an outlet valve member which is moveable between an unseated position which provides fluid communication through the outlet flow passage and a seated position which prevents fluid communication through the outlet flow passage.

A travel stop extends along a travel stop axis and has a travel stop surface such that the extent to which the inner arm pivots relative to the outer arm in the second direction is dependent upon the rotational position of the travel stop about the travel stop axis.
