Abstract:
A fuel or fuel blendstock for jet, gas turbine, rocket, and diesel engines, particularly jet, rocket, and diesel engines that utilizes components of conventional petroleum not currently utilized for jet, gas turbine, rocket, and diesel fuels, such as benzene, linear, and lightly branched alkanes, that may be alkylated with aromatic moieties to make monoaromatics for use in jet and diesel fuels. Additionally, a fuel having such monoaromatics having multiple desired properties such as higher flash point, low pour point, increased density, better lubricity, aerobic degradability, reduction in toxicity, and additionally can deliver benefits in blendstocks.
Abstract:
Processes for making particularly branched, especially monomethyl-branched or nongeminal dimethyl-branched surfactants used in cleaning products; preferred processes comprising particular combinations of two or more adsorptive separation steps and, more preferably, particular OXO and/or alkylation steps; products of such processes, including certain modified primary OXO alcohols and/or alkylbenzenes, modified primary OXO alcohol-derived alkoxylated alcohols, alkylsulfates and/or alkoxysulfates; alkylbenzensulfonate surfactants, and consumer cleaning products, especially laundry detergents, containing them. Preferred processes herein more specifically use specific, unconventional sequences of sorptive separation steps to secure certain branched hydrocarbon fractions which are used in further process steps to make olefins useful in OXO processes or as alkylating agents for arenes or for other useful surfactant-making purposes. Surprisingly, such fractions can even be derived from effluents from current linear alkylbenzene manufacture.

Abstract:
Cleaning compositions, especially laundry detergents and the like, comprising (i) modified alkylarylsulfonate surfactants, e.g., modified alkylbenzenesulfonates, which are the product of particular processes and (ii) cleaning adjuncts such as enzymes and bleaches. Processes for making the cleaning products, including processes comprising vinylidene olefin production, alkylation of arenes, sulfonation and domestic cleaning product formulation. VO production is used to introduce particular limited branching into an alpha-olefinic feedstock which, converted to dimer form, has from about 10 to about 16, preferably from about 12 to about 14 carbon atoms. Preferred processes maximize the amount of vinylidene olefin useful for detergent manufacture, and minimize deep internal olefin production. Further, an alkylation step, preferably having an internal isomer selectivity of from 0 to no more than about 40 is used, in which the VO monoalkylates arenes such as benzene, in presence of an alkylation catalyst preferably comprising an at least partially crystalline, porous zeolite-containing solid, the zeolite being at least partially acidic and having intermediate pore size. Preferred alkylation catalysts include at least partially dealuminized acidic mordenites.
