Abstract:
An x-ray tube window cooling assembly (11) for an x-ray tube (18) includes an electron collector body (110). The electron collector body (110) is thermally coupled to an x-ray tube window (102). The electron collector body (110) includes a coolant circuit (112) with a coolant inlet (114) and a coolant outlet (122). Multiple thermal exchange devices are coupled to the coolant circuit (112) and reduce temperature of a coolant passing through the exchange devices.

Abstract:
A rotating anode structure for an X-ray tube is provided, having a lightweight target anode. A carbon-carbon composite target substrate has constituents and weave geometries. A refractory metal focal track layer is deposited on the substrate to produce X-rays. An interlayer is disposed between the focal track layer and the substrate to relieve thermal expansion mismatch stresses between the carbon-carbon composite anode target substrate and the refractory metal focal track layer. The interlayer is a rhenium interlayer and the focal track layer is typically a tungsten-rhenium focal track layer.
Abstract:
An x-ray tube includes a cathode which supplies electrons that bombard a target material to produce x-rays. The target is supported on a rotating anode that includes fins covered with a high emissivity material. An envelope surrounds these elements and provides a vacuum chamber in which they operate. A receptor is mounted to the envelope and includes fins which mate with the anode fins to enhance the radiation of heat from the rotating anode. A cooling liquid is pumped through the receptor.
