Abstract:
A pressure-sensitive adhesive composition for an optical film, includes a (meth)acryl-based polymer obtained by polymerization of a monomer component including, as a main component, an alkyl (meth)acrylate having an alkyl group of 4 to 18 carbon atoms; and a phosphate ester compound. The pressure-sensitive adhesive composition is capable of forming a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer for optical films. The pressure-sensitive adhesive layer that is for use on optical films and makes it possible to suppress an increase in the surface resistance of a transparent conductive layer even when a laminate including a transparent conductive layer and an optical film such as a polarizing plate with the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer interposed therebetween is stored under hot and humid conditions.

It is an object of the invention to provide a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer that is designed for an optical film to be less likely to cause depolarization and to have good reworkability and good recyclability. The present invention relates to a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer for an optical film made from an aqueous dispersion-type pressure-sensitive adhesive composition, wherein the aqueous dispersion-type pressure-sensitive adhesive composition contains an emulsion particle having a core-shell structure comprising a shell layer of (A) a (meth)acryl-based copolymer and a core layer of (B) a methacryl-based copolymer in a single emulsion particle, a mixture ratio (A)/(B) (on a solid weight basis) of the (meth)acryl-based copolymer (A) and the methacryl-based copolymer (B) is in the range of 50/50 to 90/10, the emulsion particle in the aqueous dispersion-type pressure-sensitive adhesive composition has a number average particle size of 10 nm to 100 nm.

An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing an optical film-forming pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, which can reduce the problem with visibility without a reduction in productivity, such as a reduction in coating speed. A method for manufacturing an optical film-forming pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, comprising the steps of: (1) applying, to a release film, an aqueous dispersion-type pressure-sensitive adhesive including an aqueous dispersion containing a (meth)acryl-based polymer in the form of an aqueous dispersion; and (2) drying the applied aqueous dispersion-type pressure-sensitive adhesive, wherein the aqueous dispersion-type pressure-sensitive adhesive has a viscosity of 0.01 Pa·s to 0.1 Pa·s at a shear rate of 4,000 (l/s), the optical film-forming pressure-sensitive adhesive layer formed on the release film has a surface roughness (Ra) of 10 nm to 40 nm, and the optical film-forming pressure-sensitive adhesive layer has a haze of 1% or less.

It is an object of the invention to provide a water-dispersible pressure-sensitive adhesive composition capable of forming a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer having removability and a sufficient level of adhesion reliability and to provide a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer made from such a water-dispersible pressure-sensitive adhesive composition. It is another object of the invention to provide a pressure-sensitive adhesive optical film including an optical film and such a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer provided on at least one side of the optical film and to provide an image display device having such a pressure-sensitive adhesive optical film. A pressure-sensitive adhesive optical film of the invention includes an optical film; and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer placed on at least one side of the optical film, wherein the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is a product formed by applying a pressure-sensitive adhesive coating liquid having a dissolved oxygen concentration of 0.02 to 3 mg/L and then drying the pressure-sensitive adhesive coating liquid. The pressure-sensitive adhesive optical film can satisfy heat durability, humidity durability, and high contrast.
