Abstract: A process for preparing a hydrocarbon conversion catalyst that comprises a specially made silica-alumina composition and a metal or metal compound selected from Group VIB and Group VIII metals. The silica-alumina composition is made by preparing an aqueous mixture containing aluminum sulfate followed by adding alkali metal aluminate to the mixture to enhance the pH to within specified range and then adding aluminum sulfate to the mixture to lower the pH. Then alkali metal silicate is added followed by several other pH swings to provide a mixture containing silica-alumina. The resulting mixture is treated with an alkaline solution to provide a precipitate solid that is recovered to obtain a silica-alumina composition containing of from 30 to 70% wt silica and of from 70 to 30% wt of alumina.

Abstract: Process for preparing a hydrotreating catalyst comprising of from 5 wt % to 50 wt % of molybdenum, of from 0.5 wt % to 20 wt % of cobalt, and of from 0 to 5 wt % of phosphorus, all based on total dry weight of catalyst, which process comprises (a) treating a nickel containing carrier with molybdenum, cobalt and of from 1 to 60% wt of gluconic acid, based on weight of carrier, and optionally phosphorus, (b) optionally drying the treated carrier at a temperature of from 40 to 200° C., and (c) calcining the treated and optionally dried carrier at a temperature of from 200 to 650° C. to obtain the calcined treated carrier.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of a naphtha-selective hydrocracking catalyst comprising of from 3 to 4.8% wt of molybdenum, calculated as metal, and of from 1.5 to 3% wt of nickel, calculated as metal, which comprises loading a refractory oxide support comprising an alumina binder component and a zeolite Y component in a content of from 65 to 75 wt % based on the total weight of the catalyst, with nickel and molybdenum in the presence of citric acid, wherein the zeolite Y component has a unit cell size in the range of from 24.42 to 24.52 Å, a SAR in the range of from 8 to 15, and a surface area of from 850 to 1020 m2/g.

Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the preparation of a hydrocracking catalyst and its use. A zeolite Y having specifically defined properties is mixed with an alumina binder component and a first metals-containing solution that is extruded to form an extruded mixture. The extruded mixture is dried and calcined. The dried and calcined mixture is then impregnated with a second metals-containing solution.
