Abstract:
A three component composition for use in the treatment of an autoimmune disease where the first component comprises a bimodal synthetic carbon particle mixture; the second component comprises a bimodal synthetic carbon particle mixture and an anion exchange resin and the third component comprises a bimodal synthetic carbon particle mixture and a cation exchange resin.
Abstract:
To provide a filter capable of efficiently removing metal ions in a treatment liquid, and capable of easily obtaining a solution having an extremely low metal ion content. A depth filter includes a porous molded article. The porous molded article is a sintered material of mixed powder or a swollen material of the sintered material. The mixed powder contains dried gel powder and thermoplastic resin powder. The dried gel powder contains an ion exchange resin including a sulfonic acid group, and a nitrogen-containing chelating resin.

Abstract:
The present invention is generally directed to a versatile fluid treatment system which includes: a mobile device; a track system connected to the mobile device; one or more treatment vessels removably attached to the track system, each treatment vessel comprising a treatment material disposed inside the treatment vessel, at least one fluid inlet, and at least one fluid outlet; an input conduit that receives a fluid to be treated, the input conduit in fluid communication with the fluid inlet on the treatment vessel; and an output conduit in fluid communication with the fluid outlet on the treatment vessel, the output conduit receives treated fluid from the treatment vessels via the fluid outlet.
Abstract:
A process for recovering an onium hydroxide from a composition containing onium ions and a process residue, including providing a composition containing onium ions and a process residue; adding a quantity of a surfactant to the composition to obtain a surfactant-modified composition; providing a cation exchange media; collecting the onium ions by applying the surfactant-modified composition to the cation exchange media wherein the onium ions become bound to and retained by the cation exchange media and the process residue and the surfactant do not become bound to the cation exchange media and are substantially not retained by the cation exchange media; and recovering the onium ions from the cation exchange media as an onium hydroxide by applying a cation-containing hydroxide composition to the cation exchange media.
Abstract:
A cartridge for treating drinking water, the cartridge comprising a mixture of an ion-exchange material, one part of which is a highly acidic ion-exchange material and another part of which is a weakly acidic ion-exchange material, wherein one of the materials is loaded with alkali ions or alkaline earth ions.
Abstract:
A sorbent based monitoring system for measuring the solute concentration of at least one component of a fluid. The system has a sorbent regeneration system for regeneration of the fluid and has a sorbent cartridge that has at least one material layer. The fluid is conveyed through the sorbent cartridge and contacts at least one sensor after having contacted at least one material layer.
Abstract:
A highly efficient method for treating contaminated water streams from any source where alkanlinity, hardness, or dissolved solids need to be removed before the water is discharged to the surrounding environment or sent to a secondary treatment facility.
Abstract:
The invention provides an ion exchange cartridge (13), in particular for a domestic appliance that comprises between a water inlet (1A) and a water outlet (2A) a weak acid ion exchanger in the H+ form (5), followed by a strong acid ion exchanger in the Na+ form (7). This cartridge may be compact because it removes hard scale forming ions only. The cartridge may further comprise a first (16) and a second probe (17) to measure hard scale causing ions by a differential measurement of the conductivity of incoming water and water that has passed one or both ion exchangers. Herewith the appliance can be switched off when the cartridge is not functioning anymore, thus forcing a user to replace the cartridge, or to regenerate the ion exchangers before hard scale blocking of the appliance.
Abstract:
A portable water purifier comprises an elongated column having a series of separable sections secured together in end-to-end relationship. Each separable section includes two or more sets of threads that permit the respective sections to be secured together in end-to-end relationship and further enable the individual sections to be reordered. A pair of spaced apart screens is disposed in each section. Defined between the screens is an area for receiving a water treatment composition. The water treatment composition can comprise a variety of materials contained within a porous container disposed between the pair of screens in the respective sections of the column.
