An ultraviolet irradiation apparatus includes: a first substrate; a second substrate; electrodes disposed directly or indirectly on the first substrate; a dielectric layer covering the electrodes; a sealant joining together the first and second substrates; a light-emitting layer that is disposed directly or indirectly on the dielectric layer and/or a surface of the second substrate; and a reaction vessel disposed directly or indirectly on a surface of the second substrate. The reaction vessel includes a tubular structure, an inlet channel and an outlet channel. The tubular structure has a ratio ha/hc of 5 to 10, where ha is a diameter of a circle inscribed in an inner bottom surface of the tubular structure, and hc is an inner height of the tubular structure.
Abstract:
A pool water purifying device includes a rough filtration module having a first housing. A rough filter is received in the first housing. An electrolyzing module includes a second housing. Two electrodes and an ultraviolet lamp are mounted to the second housing and extend into the second housing. The electrodes are electrically connected to a power supply. A fine filtration module includes a third housing receiving a fine filter. A piping unit includes a plurality of pipes and a plurality of valves. The valves connect the first, second, and third housings to intercommunicate the first, second, and third housings with each other. The valves are mounted on the pipes to control communication between the pipes.
Abstract:
Humidifying apparatus includes a body comprising a chamber into which water is supplied by a water tank. An air flow is generated over water stored in the chamber, and a humidifying system humidifies the air flow with water from the chamber. Water in the chamber is irradiated by an ultraviolet radiation emitting lamp. The lamp forms part of a cartridge removably locatable within the body so that the lamp is received within an ultraviolet radiation transparent tube of the chamber. The body includes a plurality of supports for supporting the cartridge therebetween. Each support has a curved track for guiding movement of the cartridge towards the tube, the tracks being shaped to orient the cartridge for insertion of the lamp into the tube as the cartridge moves along the tracks towards the tube.

A water vending apparatus is disclosed. The water vending system includes a water vapor distillation apparatus and a dispensing device. The dispensing device is in fluid communication with the fluid vapor distillation apparatus and the product water from the fluid vapor distillation apparatus is dispensed by the dispensing device.
Abstract:
A system has been developed to treat ballast water by selectively dissociating target molecules into component products compositionally distinct from the target molecule, wherein the bonds of the target molecule do not reform because the components are no longer reactive with each other. Dissociation is affected by treating the target molecule with light at a frequency and intensity, alone or in combination with a catalyst in an amount effective to selectively break bonds within the target molecule. Dissociation does not result in re-association into the target molecule by the reverse process, and does not produce component products which have a change in oxidation number or state incorporated oxygen or other additives because the process does not proceed via a typical reduction-oxidation mechanism.

Abstract:
An improved germicidal lamp of the type containing mercury, having a ceramic base, and disposed in, and preventing contact with, a transparent quartz sleeve to prevent formation of a cold spot in the germicidal lamp caused by an undesirable thermal transfer between the lamp and the sleeve and which causes condensation of the mercury at the cold spot in the germicidal lamp. The improvement includes the ceramic base having a circumferential groove therearound, and a thermally insulating ring siting in the circumferential groove of the ceramic base so as to prevent the ceramic base from contacting the sleeve to prevent formation of the cold spot in the germicidal lamp caused by the undesirable thermal transfer between the lamp and the sleeve and prevent the condensation of the mercury at the cold spot in the germicidal lamp.
Abstract:
A flow of oxygen containing gas is irradiated with UV light to convert oxygen molecules to ozone molecules and produce an ozonated gas. Water to be treated is augmented with silver prior to entraining the ozonated gas in the water. The ozone enriched water containing silver is irradiated with UV light to produce hydroxyl radicals. Whereby, microorganisms are killed by the UV radiation, organic matter is oxidized by the ozone and the combination of silver and hydroxyl radicals prevent downstream growth of bio-film contamination.
Abstract:
A system for cleaning wastewater, includes: an absorption-biodegradation-denitrification (ABN) reactor, a sequential adsorption reactor, a disinfection reactor, and a sludge anaerobic fermentation reactor. The ABN reactor is an integrated reactor including: a biosorption tank, an intermediate sedimentation tank, a biologically-enhanced degradation tank, a denitrification biofilter, and a secondary sedimentation tank. The pretreated wastewater is introduced into the ABN reactor for removal of chemical oxygen demand, nitrogen and phosphorus; the ABN reactor effluent is introduced into the sequential adsorption reactor for the removal of high-risk pollutants; the sequential adsorption reactor effluent is introduced into the disinfection reactor for the elimination of viruses and other pathogenic microorganisms; the sludge produced by the ABN reactor is introduced into the anaerobic sludge fermentation reactor for alkaline fermentation. The system is effective for removing high-risk pollutants and reducing effluent toxicity, which can be used for the upgrading and reconstruction of the wastewater treatment system.
