Abstract:
An x-y coordinate is set on the surface of diffraction grating 3 with non-uniformly spaced grooves and expressed by the following series expansion which is a groove function describing a point (w,l) on the nth groove from the origin: 1 n = 1 null null null i , j null n i null null null j null w i null l j null null null ( i + j null 1 ) The focal length (r0null) and the expansion coefficient nij in this series expansion are so determined that all expanded terms Fij in the following optical path function are zero at a desired wavelength: 2 F = null i , j null F i null null null j null w i null l j = null i , j null [ M i null null null j + ( m null null null null null ) null n i null null null j ] null w i null l j null null null ( i + j > 0 ) the optical path being for the light that passes through entrance slit 1 to be reflected by concave mirror 2 and diffracted at a point (w,l) on the surface of diffraction grating 3 before it reaches exit slit 4. The positions of two point light sources C5 and D6 in a holographic recording system are so determined as to realize the required value of nij.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a spectrograph-monochromator of grazing incidence type which is particularly but not exclusively designed for examining soft x-ray and ultraviolet radiation. the spectrograph-monochromator according to the invention comprises an inlet slit, a reflecting diffraction grating and a detector comprising a photographic plate for spectrographic recording or, alternatively, an outlet slit for selecting a single monochromatic component, the improvement being that the inlet slit is disposed in a fixed position relative to a base plate, provided with an openable cover and said grating and said detector are disposed longitudinally displaceable on a curved guide, which represents a portion of a Rouland circle and is rotatable about an axis coinciding with that of said inlet slit.
Abstract:
A mobile grating-detector arrangement has an X-ray detector and at least one grating. The grating-detector arrangement is configured to record an interferometric X-ray image of at least one body part of a patient in a patient bed in operation. In addition, an X-ray system with such a grating-detector arrangement and its use for X-ray interferometric imaging is described.

Abstract:
An apparatus uses a rapid and efficient method for conducting fluorescence measurements, such as immuno assay, of a plurality of samples of a substance using pulsed or continuous light energy, front-end fluorescent optics, a mechanism which allows for lateral and tranverse scanning of rows and columns of wells, and spectra emission analysis of the spectra from the excited samples.
Abstract:
An extended range grazing incidence monochromator is disclosed which utilizes Rowland circle geometry to select a frequency of radiation from a broad spectrum of radiation, with the entrance slit and the gratings of the monochromator being positionable by remote electrical control, such as that provided by a digital computer, while the exit slit of the apparatus remains fixed. The monochromator has an extended range because it includes two different gratings, each of which has an optical characteristic adapted for use in a Rowland circle of a different size, and the apparatus is capable of switching between two gratings without breaking the ultra-high vacuum contained in the interior of the monochromator. The positioning of the entrance slit and the appropriate grating is accomplished both rotationally and linearly through the use of stepping motors which can be precisely remotely controlled for maximum accuracy and control.
Abstract:
A grazing incidence spectrometer is provided with an entrance slit and a diffraction grating for diffracting the light rays incident thereon from the entrance slit and for imaging the light rays as a plurality of spectral lines. The diffraction grating is a curved diffraction grating having a predetermined principal radius of curvature and the groove patterns thereof are formed at unequal intervals so as to make the image plane thereof substantially planar. The entrance slit is disposed within a Rowland circle so as to satisfy0.7.ltoreq.r/R cos .alpha..ltoreq.0.9,where R is the principal radius of curvature of the curved diffraction grating, r is the distance between the entrance slit and the curved diffraction grating, and .alpha. is the angle of incidence of the principal ray incident from the entrance slit onto the curved diffraction grating.
