Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of a polyolefinic film, with at least one layer, which is made from polyolefinic polymers, whereby said polyolefinic film comprises a bonding layer as outer layer. Said bonding layer contains at least 50 wt. % based on the weight of the layer of a maleic anhydride modified polyolefin. The film is used for printing, metallising or coating.
Abstract:
Method for preventing the formation of coating defects in polymeric coated surfaces in a coating process comprising a plurality of steps that occur prior to the polymeric coating of said surfaces and that contact organic and metal surfaces with a plurality of aqueous compositions in which accumulate in suspension resin particles released from said metal surfaces. Suspended resin particles are prevented from redepositing on the organic surfaces by converting said surfaces to hydrophilic character by means of oxidizing said surfaces prior to contacting the oxidized surfaces with said suspensions.
Abstract:
A process or preparing a coating composition which involves forming a hydrolysis product is described. The hydrolysis product is formed by hydrolysing, at lest one compound represented by general formula I, M(Rnull)mnullnull(I) wherein M is an element selected from the group consisting of Si, Ti, Zr, Sn, Ce, Al, B, VO, In and Zn, Rnull represents a hydrolysable radical, and m is an integer from 2 to 4. The hydrolysis step may optionally be performed in the presence of at least one compound represented by general formula II, RbSiRnulla, nullnull(II) wherein the radicals Rnull and R are the same or different, Rnull is as defined above with formula I, R represents a group selected from an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group, a hydrocarbon group with at least one halogen group, an epoxide group, a glycidyloxy group, an amino group, a mercapto group, a methacryloxy group and a cyano group, and a and b independently of one another have a value from 1 to 3, provided that the sum of a and b is four. The hydrolysis reaction is conducted in the presence of at least 0.6 moles of water for every mole of hydrolysable radical Rnull. Further described is a multilayered article which includes a substrate, a scratch-resistant coating and a top layer which is prepared from the coating composition of the invention. Also described is a process of preparing the multilayered article.
Abstract:
A process of cleaning a component following a forming operation that has left a residue on the component surface. The process comprises a thermal treatment during which the surface of the component is subjected to a controlled open flame, preferably in the presence of a limited amount of excess oxygen. Residues can be removed by the open flame to the extent that adhesion of a coating to the component surface can be greatly enhanced. Surface residue levels prior to the thermal treatment can be reduced by the use of lubricants prepared by diluting with de-ionized water or reverse osmosis water, thereby further increasing the likelihood of a residue-free surface having optimal adhesion properties. Under some circumstances, residue levels can be sufficiently reduced with the use of lubricants diluted with de-ionized or reverse osmosis water such that the thermal treatment can be omitted.
Abstract:
A resin molded product and a fine metal powder producing material are placed into a treating vessel. The fine metal powder producing material is brought into flowing contact with the surface of the resin molded product, thereby producing a fine metal powder, and forming a metal layer of the fine metal powder on the surface of the resin molded product. In this process, the metal layer of the fine metal powder can be formed firmly and at high density on the surface of the resin molded product. The metal layer exhibits a function as an electrically conductive layer. Therefore, a metal film having an excellent thickness accuracy, an excellent surface smoothness and a high peel strength can be formed in a simple manner on the metal layer by carrying out an electroplating treatment. In addition, it is possible for the metal layer itself to exhibit functions or properties such as an ornamentality.
Abstract:
A method for color matching using a combination of two or more powder coatings having different colors from each other to give a target color, wherein lightness, blending weight ratio and volume-average particle size of the powder coatings to be combined satisfy the formula (I); and a method for preparing a coating film comprising applying powder coatings combined by the above method to a substrate. According to this method, since a coating film having homogeneous color with low mottling is obtained from two or more powder coatings having different colors from each other, the method can be used as a simplified process for color matching using the powder coatings requiring only a few primary color powder coatings to be furnished.
Abstract:
A method and device of treating an irregularly shaped article to prepare the article for painting is provided. The device includes a burner which can produce an adjustable flame tongue which can fit into crevices, openings and other irregular topographical features of an item to be painted or otherwise coated. The burner device further provides means to apply a grafting chemical on a freshly oxidized surface. Further, the invention provides means to colorize treated objects so that they may be recognized as having been treated. In another embodiment, the grafting chemicals may be enhanced with electrolytic solutions such that electrostatic methods of painting may be subsequently employed on the item. In an alternate embodiment, the burner is adapted to spray a powder inside of a generally enclosed flame, and is used in conjunction with chop guns to manufacture glass or carbon fiber preforms. In a preferred embodiment all of the main systems of the present invention are provided with redundancies that allow the continuous operation of the device. Further, the device provides means to run and modify the process either locally or by remote communication means.
Abstract:
A hard Al oxide film having a high melting point, which grows on the surface of an AlnullCu film during a wafer is carried in atmospheric air, obstructs the burying of a viahole with the AlnullCu film by high pressure reflow, with a result that a void remains in the hole. The present invention is intended to remove such an Al oxide film grown on the AlnullCu film formed by sputtering, by Arnull sputtering/etching directly before high pressure reflow. Moreover, when a Ti oxide film is present on the surface of a Ti based underlying film formed by CVD, an Al oxide film is possibly grown at the boundary between the Ti based underlying film and an AlnullCu film laminated thereon. In this case, the Ti oxide film is similarly removed directly before formation of the AlnullCu film, thereby preventing the growth of the Al oxide film. With this method, it is possible to highly keep thermal flow of a conductive film in a high pressure reflow process, and hence to desirably bury a connection hole with the conductive film.
