Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new type cosmetic or dermatological composition for protecting the skin, having improved stability and good formulation characteristics and also exhibiting good functional characteristics and high sunburn preventive factor. SOLUTION: This composition as the subject sunscreen preparation comprises (A) a copolymer and (B) an inorganic UV filter; wherein the copolymer A is such as to be obtained by (i) free radical solution polymerization of a monomer mixture comprising (a) 0.01-99.99 wt.% of a monomer selected from the group consisting of N-vinylimidazoles and diallylamines, (b) 0.01-99.99 wt.% of a neutral or basic water-soluble monomer, (c) 0-50 wt.% of an unsaturated acid (anhydride), (d) 0-50 wt.% of a free radical-copolymerizable monomer differing from the components (a), (b) and (c), and (e) 0-10 wt.% of a monomer acting as a crosslinking agent and having at least ethylenically unsaturated nonconjugated double bonds, and (ii) partially or wholly quaternizing or protonating the resultant polymer.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To afford a specific polymer with such advantages as reduced solution viscosity and improved rinsability with invariable tonic activity by using itself as a hair setting polymer. SOLUTION: A polymer with a group of formula I [R is H or a (mutually bound) organic group; G is O or NH] is used as a hair setting polymer. It is preferable that the polymer of formula I is produced under the use of a monomer of formula II (R1 is H or CH3) (e.g. ureidomethacrylate), or comprises repeating unit of formula III; specifically, the polymer of formula I is pref. such one as to be produced by copolymerization between two kinds of monomer each bearing olefinic double bond, namely, 0.05-100 wt.% of the monomer of formula II and 0-99.95 wt.% of another copolymerizable monomer.
Abstract:
An oral composition and method for use thereof, comprising in an orally acceptable vehicle, an effective antiplaque amount of a noncationic antibacterial agent, and an anionic copolymer formed from monomers of which about 40 to about 90 % by weight are hydrophilic type capable of attachment to oral surfaces and about 10 to about 60 % by weight are of a hydrophobic type; such oral composition being effective in increasing the uptake of the antibacterial compound to dental tissue so as to enhance the therapeutic efficacy of the administered antibacterial compound.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing polymers which are water-soluble or water-dispersible or which, if they consist of monomers with neutralizable radicals, are water-soluble or water-dispersible in the neutralized form, by radically polymerizing a) ethylenically unsaturated monomers in the presence of b) silicone derivatives containing polyalkyleneoxide.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of polymers, which may be obtained by radical polymerisation of a) at least one vinyl ester of C1-C24 carboxylic acids in the presence of b) polyether containing compounds with a molecular weight of at least 300 and c) optionally one or several further co-polymerisable monomers, in skin cosmetic formulations and in decorative cosmetics.
Abstract:
Hair cosmetic agents which comprise a polymer and a relaxer are proposed. The agents according to the invention are suitable for effective hair smoothing whilst being gentle on the scalp, and for retaining the structure of the hair.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of specific amphiphilic copolymers as synergistic adjuvant for agrotechnical applications. Suitable agrotechnical compositions are also described. Thus, the addition of such copolymers makes possible an accelerated uptake of active ingredients by the plant. The copolymers or salts thereof to be used comprise monomer units (i) based on at least one olefin and/or at least one vinyl ether, (ii) based on at least one ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid and/or at least one ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid derivative, and, optionally (iii) based on at least one further copolymerizable comonomer.
