    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an unsaturated ketone which is an intermediate for synthesizing a useful flavor and a natural substance by reacting isopropenyl ether with a ketal of acetone with propene, etc., in the reaction between an allyl alcohol and isopropenyl ether. SOLUTION: An allyl alcohol of formula I (R to R are each H, an alkyl, an alkenyl or the like) or a propargyl alcohol of formula II is reacted with an isopropenyl ether of formula III (R is 1-4C alkyl) with forming a ketal of formula IV to give unsaturated ketones of formula V and formula VI. The isopropenyl ether of the formula III is obtained by reacting the ketal of formula IV with propyne or allylene or its mixture in a vapor phase at a raised temperature in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst containing silicon or oxygen and zinc or cadmium. The ketal of the formula IV is resupplied for producing the isopropenyl ether of the formula III.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 2,5,6-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen-1-one in industrial scale, good yield and good space time yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing 2,5,6-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen-1-on comprises simultaneously pumping 1 mol crotonaldehyde or 1 mol compound which is converted under the reaction conditions into crotonaldehyde, about 5-30 mol diethyl ketone and the aqueous solution or suspension of a strong base in the presence of a base agent at elevated temperature, through separate lines or at least partly in the form of a suitable mixture, continuously into a pressure vessel, which is heated where appropriate and which ensures vigorous mixing, in such a way that the reaction temperature is 150-350 deg.C and the average residence time in the pressure vessel is about 0.1 second to 20 min.

    Abstract: The invention concerns a process for extracting pure substances from mixtures of high-boiling air and/or temperature-sensitive substances which require a high separative power by rectification in a fine vacuum in columns containing metal cloth packing with an ordered structure and using channel liquid separators with 500 or more draining points/m . The draining points are arranged at an angle of 90 DEG to the cloth layers of the packing elements (7, 8) located immediately below the distributors. Two or a plurality of the packing elements (7, 8) below the liquid separator (6) have only a slight height which practically ensures the exclusion of air. These packing elements are shaped such that, during rectification, no heat can be exchanged through the column wall. The invention also concerns the packing columns used for this process and the use of this process and this column for the distillative fine-purification of vitamin E acetate.

    Abstract: Procedimiento para la obtención de acetato de vitamina-E puro o de tocoferoles puros a partir de mezclas mediante rectificación en una columna con intercambio de materia, que contiene empaquetaduras de tela metálica con estructura ordenada, a una presión en la cabeza desde 0, 2 hasta 2 mbares, en el que a) se lleva a cabo la distribución del líquido con distribuidores en forma de canales con un número igual o mayor que 500 puntos de goteo por m2, b) disponiéndose los canales del distribuidor de líquidos girados con un ángulo de aproximadamente 90º alrededor del eje de la columna con respecto a las capas de tejido de los elementos de empaquetadura, que se encuentran directamente por debajo de estos distribuidores, c) encontrándose por debajo del distribuidor de los líquidos, 2 o varios elementos de empaquetadura con una altura de, tan solo, 20 hasta 100 mm, cuyas capas de tejido están giradas entre sí, respectivamente, 90º alrededor del eje de la columna, d) estando configurada la columna detal manera que, durante la rectificación no tenga lugar prácticamente un intercambio de calor a través de la pared de la columna, e) la columna está configurada de tal manera que pueda trabajarse prácticamente bajo exclusión del aire y f) la pérdida de presión por etapa de separación se reduce mediante un ajuste disminuido de la carga de líquido de tal manera, que las temperaturas, que se presentan en la cola se reduzcan por debajo del intervalo de descomposición del acetato de vitamina-E.

    Abstract: Packing elements which are subjected to low pressure losses and which are used in fractional distillation columns, have the same diameter as that of the column inner diameter, and a height of 40 to 300mm. The elements consist of dimensionally stable layers (2,3) with an ordered structure. They are made of cloth or cloth-like material with a specific surface of 2000m /m . The novelty is that: (a) the contacting, deformed layers of cloth or cloth-like material pref. metal cloth, are arranged to form a number of narrow flow ducts, pref. triangular, rectangular, square, or equilateral hexagonal flow ducts; (b) the angle of inclination (1) of the teeth in the individual cloth layers (2,3) of the packing towards the column axis is 0 to 25 degrees, pref. 3 to 14 degrees; (c) wires or thin rods (4) are mounted as required between th cloth layers (2,3), or the cloth layers (2,3) are rigidly connected at some points of contact, providing mechanical stability. Also claimed is a process for obtaining pure substances from mixtures by rectification using the packing elements described.
