    Abstract: 1383175 Printing pastes BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 24 March 1972 [26 March 1971 2 Sept 1971] 13827/72 Heading C3P A print paste comprises a pigment, a binder and an emulsion thickening agent and is based on an oil-in-water emulsion in which the oil is a water-immiscible organic solvent or solvent mixture having a boiling temperature of 80‹ to 200‹ C. wherein there is present as a defoamer from 0À01 to 0À15% by weight (based on the weight of the print paste) of a derivative of a block copolymer of ethylene oxide and 1,2- propylene oxide of the formula X-(A-B-R) n or X-(B-A-R) n in which X is the n-valent radical of an n-hydric aliphatic alcohol of 2 to 6 carbon atoms, n is an integer from 2 to 6, A is a polyethylene block of mean molecular weight (M A ) of 400 to 6000, B is a poly-1,2-propylene oxide block of mean molecular weight (M B ) of 400 to 6000 and R is the acyl radical of a fatty acid of 2 to 24 carbon atoms. The paste may also contain a nonionic surfactant. X may be the radical of ethylene or propylene glycol, glycerol, trimethylol propane or pentaerythritol. In the examples print pastes are prepared by adding as defoamer the esterification product of trimethylolpropane or propylene glycol oxyalkylated with ethylene oxide then propylene oxide esterified with stearic acid to a white spirit in oil emulsion containing as binder one or more of a copolymer of n-butyl acrylate, acrylonitrile, vinyl chloride and n-methylolacrylamide, a copolymer of ammonium polyacrylate and butanedioldiacrylate, a copolymer of butadiene, styrene and n-methylolacrylamide and a copolymer of butyl acrylate, styrene and nmethylolacrylamide, one of various dyes and pigments and one or more of an adduct, of ethylene oxide and p benzyl-o-phenylphenol or, sperm oil alcohol, diammonium phosphate, N,N- dimethylolbutanediol diurethane, carboxymethylcellulose, sodium alginate, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, toluene, ammonium sulphate and hexamethylolmelamine hexamethylether.

In the examples print pastes are prepared by adding as defoamer the esterification product of trimethylolpropane or propylene glycol oxyalkylated with ethylene oxide then propylene oxide esterified with stearic acid to a white spirit in oil emulsion containing as binder one or more of a copolymer of n-butyl acrylate, acrylonitrile, vinyl chloride and n-methylolacrylamide, a copolymer of ammonium polyacrylate and butanedioldiacrylate, a copolymer of butadiene, styrene and n-methylolacrylamide and a copolymer of butyl acrylate, styrene and nmethylolacrylamide, one of various dyes and pigments and one or more of an adduct, of ethylene oxide and p benzyl-o-phenylphenol or, sperm oil alcohol, diammonium phosphate, N,N- dimethylolbutanediol diurethane, carboxymethylcellulose, sodium alginate, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether, toluene, ammonium sulphate and hexamethylolmelamine hexamethylether.
