    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a plasma display panel with an excellent shape, by which an electrode network can be registered exactly and the plasma display panel can be manufactured simply at low cost.
    SOLUTION: In the panel composed of a substrate (4) having a barrier network, each barrier embedded with a first network of an electrode (6i) to control the panel, phosphors (Ri, Vi, Bi) are placed with intervals on the substrate (4). The panel has a transparent front surface plate (8) and a second electrode network placed perpendicularly to the electrode (6i). An electrode/barrier rib structure for the plasma display is manufactured by sealing ionized gas in between the substrate and the plate.

    Abstract: The plasma display screen has the substrate formed in three stages. In the first stage a flat metallic plate (1) is formed, with pre-formed assemblies of electrodes. The second stage covers these pre-formed assemblies with a layer of a dielectric material (3) which moulds itself over and into the spaces between the electrodes. In the third stage the covering is removed from the top of electrodes, leaving the top exposed but the electrodes separated by an insulating material. The material used in the second stage is glass with a deposit of magnesium oxide over the top. The top of the bared electrodes is coated with luminescent materials (R,V,B), with adjacent electrodes carrying different colour luminescent material.

    Abstract: A fluid encapsulated MEMS optical switch includes an optical waveguide matrix with MEMS mirrors (22) situated in trenches located at waveguide cross-points (29). The trenches are filled with collimation-maintaining fluid (30) and the mirrors (22) are immersed therein. The collimation maintaining fluid (30) prevents the light beam from spreading when it enters the switch cross-points. This feature enables the use of much smaller MEMS mirrors (22) and prevents some of the typical MEMS mirror (22) problems found in the related art. In particular, the MEMS mirrors (22) disclosed in the present invention is reduced to approximately 15 wide and 2 thick, resulting in shorter actuation distances to approximately 15. This feature results in an optical switch having faster switching times.

    Abstract: The panel has substrate (4) which has a network of barriers each incorporating electrode (6i) of a first network of electrodes for control of the panel, a periodic arrangement (Ri, Vi, Bi) of areas of phosphorescent products being formed on substrate (4), transparent front plate (8), second network of electrodes (10j) perpendicular to electrodes (6i), an ionizable gas which is introduced between this substrate and this plate. In order to manufacture substrate (4), one forms a metallic plate which has joined preforms of electrodes (6i) of the first network, one covers the preforms with a layer of a dielectric material which is molded on it them and on the spaces separating them, and one removes the material from the metallic plate which joins the preforms of electrodes (6i), so as to electrically insulate these electrodes from one another.
