Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inertia latching mechanism with which the erection of a pin for oscillation of an inertia lever can be omitted. SOLUTION: This disk driver comprises a lever body 22 which oscillates the inertia lever 21 used for the inertia latching mechanism by the inertia of an impact when this impact is applied to the inertia lever, a stator 24 which is fixed to a casing of the disk driver and a leaf spring member 23 which connects the lever body 22 and the stator 24 and permits the oscillation of the lever body 22. Abstract: PURPOSE: To increase a speed and to reduce a power consumption by eliminating the dependency of bearing rotating torque on temperature. CONSTITUTION: In an actuator assembly of an HDD magnetic head, a pivot bearing 28 of a head arm comprises a pair of bearings 38 apart axially from each other and receiving a preload. In the bearings 38, the coefficient of linear expansion of an outer sleeve 42 is made larger positively than that of an inner shaft 44. A variation in rotating torque in which, as the temperature increases, the preload also increases, as the temperature decreases, the preload also decreases, as the preload increases, a rotating torque increases, and as the preload decreases, the rotating torque decreases, and a variation in rotating torque in which, as the temperature of grease sealed in the bearings 38 increases, the rotating torque decreases, and as the temperature of the grease decreases, the rotating torque increases are offset each other.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the inertia latch mechanism with high reliability to be capable of mounting even on a thin structive disk drive device. SOLUTION: The inertia latch mechanism 7 is equipped with a latch lever 74 oscillatable around an oscillating axis 73 from an opening position to a latch position and an inertia lever 72 oscillatable around an oscillating axis 71 with a larger moment of inertia than the latch lever 74. When a counterclockwise impact is given to an actuator 22, the inertia lever 72 is oscillated counterclockwise, and the latch lever 74 is pulled by a 1st engagement projection 81 in a 1st engagement part 85 to move the latch lever 74 into a latch position. Then, when a clockwise impact is given to the actuator 22, the inertia lever 72 is oscillated clockwise, and the latch lever 74 is pushed by a 2nd engagement projection 82 in a 2nd engagement part 86 to collide against a crush stop 5 so as to latch the reversely oscillated actuator 22.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the coincidence of the frequency band generated by the peak of the acoustic frequency occurring in the rotation of a spindle motor and the resonance frequency of a damper. SOLUTION: The damper 42 which is mounted at the disk driver and plays a vibration damping function has a flat planar substrate 42a having a joint surface 42d to the disk driver and thick parts 42a and 42c thicker than the flat planar 42a. The selection width of the shape is made wider than that of the conventional flat damper and eventually the regulation of the resonance frequency of the damper at a higher degree of freedom is made possible.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a disc drive having a lock mechanism strong against strong impact by employing the lock mechanism in the horizontal and vertical directions for a recording medium. CONSTITUTION: When the rotation of a magnetic disc 3 decreases due to stoppage of a magnetic disc drive 1, an actuator arm 8 is shifted to a parking zone disposed on the inner circumferential side. When an iron piece 11 is attracted to a magnet 12, an arm 8 is shifted in the inner circumferential direction of recording medium 3 and eventually stopped. A lock mechanism comprising a solenoid coil 28 is movable up and down with respect to the recording medium 3 and when the arm 8 is shifted into the parking zone, the lock mechanism is shifted upward by means of the coil 28 and engages with the arm 8. The arm 8 is secured effectively even if a strong impact is applied externally in a short time under that state. Consequently, data on the medium 3 is protected against unexpected movement of the arm 8.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To effectively reproduce information without a large force for taking out a recording medium when a drive source is inoperative and also without bringing about a disturbance in an operation in the case of a normal driving. CONSTITUTION: When a driving force 300 becomes inoperative due to a breakdown of a power-supply unit, etc., in the state that a recording medium 200 is carried into a reproduction position, a clip or driver, etc., as an operation rod 280 is inserted into a through hole 270. Then, the tip of the operation rod 280 is abutted on a contact part 515 of a gear disengaging member 515, pressing down the contact part 515 and then passing by it before it is abutted on a contact part 615 of a turning arm 610, which is turned by a light force for a recording medium 200 to be taken out. Further, device does not bring about a disturbance in an operation in the case of a normal driving. Thus, information can effectively be reproduced.
