Abstract:
A method is disclosed for screening potential catalysts for polymerization performance. The method includes the steps of reacting a potential catalyst with at least a first monomer under polymerization conditions, determining the polymerization performance of the catalyst with the at least first monomer, and using the determination as a predictor for the polymerization performance of the catalyst for at least a second monomer, wherein the first and second monomers are different from each other and the first monomer is an olefin other than ethylene. The method provides a useful, concrete and tangible result that has particular value for identifying appropriate catalysts for olefin polymerization and copolymerization.

Abstract:
New ligands having a backbone comprised of NCCX can be combined with a metal or metal precursor compound or formed into a metal-ligand complex to catalyze a number of different chemical transformations, including polymerization.
Abstract:
A method and system for researching and developing and/or optimizing new catalysts and polymers in a combinatorial manner is disclosed. The method begins with starting components or a ligand library and provides methods of creating catalyst or product libraries, which are then tested in a reaction of interest. The system uses methods of robotic handling for moving libraries from station to station. The method and apparatus are especially useful for synthesizing, screening, and characterizing combinatorial catalyst libraries.

Abstract:
The present invention discloses methods and materials for constructing combinatorial libraries composed of organometallic compounds immobilized on solid supports and encoded with detectable tags. The encoded library of organometallic compound is especially useful for rapidly screening large numbers of member compounds for catalytic performance. These immobilized catalysts can be pooled in a single reactor where they are screened for a predefined property, such as catalytic activity and selectivity.
