Abstract:
An integrated circuit having a microcontroller, mask programmed read only memory, functions such as clock oscillator, analog-to-digital converter, timers, etc., where each may be adjusted with a digital input to a desired calibration value. The digital input resulting in the desired calibration value being stored in a programmable fuse array.
Abstract:
A loadable counter circuit which is able to perform multiple contiguous counts. The loadable counter circuit uses a counter (12) for monitoring a number of specified events. A data storage device (14) is coupled to the counter (12) for loading the counter with counter values for each of the contiguous counts. A control logic circuit (20) is coupled to the counter (12) and to the data storage circuit (14) for loading the counter and the data storage device with the counter values.

Abstract:
A precision bandgap reference circuit which uses an operational amplifier (34) that has the positive and negative input terminals connected to a diode/resistor combination (52A and 52B) and a diode (50) respectively. The circuit also comprises an output stage (64 and 66) driven by the operational amplifier to be biased with a PTAT current.
Abstract:
A method of controlling a resistive memory cell is provided. A resistance threshold value is defined for the memory cell, wherein a circuit identifies the cell as erased if a detected resistance of the cell is above the resistance threshold and identifies the cell as programmed if the detected resistance is below the resistance threshold value. A filament is formed across an electrolyte switching region of the cell by applying an electrical charge, wherein the cell having the formed filament has a first resistance. The cell is then erased to an erased state having a second resistance greater than the first resistance. The cell is then programmed to a quasi-erased state having a third resistance between the first and second resistances, and above the resistance threshold value such that the cell is identified by the circuit as erased. The cell may then be maintained in the quasi-erased state.
Abstract:
A lock-on detection circuit for a phase-locked loop includes circuitry configured to receive first up and down outputs and second up and down outputs from one or more phase detectors and to determine from the first up and down outputs and the second up and down outputs how well the phase-locked loop is locked on to a reference clock.
Abstract:
An apparatus for smoke detection having an image sensor may be tested using image or pattern recognition, or facial gesturing without having to climb a ladder or chair to initiate the test, or be uncomfortably close to the smoke detector apparatus during initiation of the testing thereof. Carbon monoxide (CO) and/or carbon dioxide (CO2) monitoring and alarm may also be incorporated into this apparatus. Other control functions may also be initiated with image or pattern recognition, or facial gesturing such as audio features associated with the smoke detector apparatus such as networked speakers for distribution of music, intercom, telephone, and/or doorbell annunciation.
Abstract:
A line frequency monitoring and load shedding control apparatus is placed in or closely coupled to a power load and monitors the line frequency of the alternating current electric power source supplying the power load. When a decrease in line frequency is detected, this line frequency monitoring and load shedding control apparatus may interrupt certain portions of the power load, thereby allowing the power source frequency to stabilize. Subsequently, the line frequency monitoring and load shedding control apparatus makes a determination to return operation of the load that was shed to a normal state of operation as the power line frequency recovers to a normal operating frequency. Fixed time delays, e.g., adjustable, programmable, etc., and/or pseudo random time delays may be incorporated to sequentially reconnect the loads back onto the power source, thereby preventing the loads previously shed from being reconnected all at the same time.
Abstract:
A method and device for detecting a continuous circle gesture, comprising: receiving vectors representative of an object movement by a object detection unit; determining from the received sequence velocity vectors a sequence of velocity vectors or an approximation thereof; estimating an angle between subsequent velocity vectors; and determining a rotation direction.
Abstract:
A method for hot swapping an operating system kernel in a system, wherein the system comprises a central processing unit, one or more system components and a program memory including an old kernel and a new kernel, the method comprising: - configuring, by the old kernel, the system to boot from the new kernel by branching into a suitable entry point in the new kernel; - identifying, by the new kernel, one or more system components which require a reinitialization or reset; - further executing the new kernel in order to reinitialize or reset the one or more system components.
