Abstract: Thermoplastic moulding materials (I) contain: (A) 30-98 wt.% of a graft copolymer of: (ak) 30-90 wt.% rubber-elastic grafting core, obtd. by copolymerisation of: (ak1) 80-99.99 wt.% (1-10C alkyl) acrylate, (ak2) 0.01-20 wt.% crosslinking monomer, and (ak3) 0-40 wt.% other comonomer(s); and (as) 10-70 wt.% of a grafted shell derived from: (as1) 50-100 wt.% styrene cpd. of formula (a); and (as2) 0-50 wt.% other comonomer(s); (B) 1-50 wt.% of a thermoplastic polymer of: (b1) 50-100 wt.% styrene and/or alpha -methylstyrene (AMS), (b2) 0-50 wt.% acrylonitrile, and (b3) 0-50 wt.% other comonomer(s); and (C) 1-70 wt.% of a copolymer of: (c1) 30-90 wt.% styrene and AMS, (c2) 10-70 wt.% butadiene, and (c3) 0-30 wt.% other comonomer(s); comprising: (i) block X obtd. by polymerising (c2) and opt. (c3) and block Y by polymerising (c1) and opt. (c3), or (ii) a polymer with a butadiene-rich initial segment, increasing amts. of styrene along the chain, and a terminal segment of homo-polystyrene (PS); or (iii) a star-shaped polymer obtd. by linking several polymer chains contg. (c1)-(c3) with polyfunctional mols., and in which the olefinic double bonds are completely or almost completely hydrogenated. Also claimed are films and moulded prods. obtd. from (I). Abstract: The invention relates to thermoplastic moulding materials containing a mixture of (A) between 30 and 69 wt. %, in relation to the sum of the constituents (A), (B) and (C), of a methylmethacrylate polymer, (B) between 30 and 69 wt. %, in relation to the sum of the constituents (A), (B) and (C), of a copolymer that can be obtained by the polymerisation of a vinylaromatic monomer and a vinylcyanide, and (C) between 1 and 40 wt. %, in relation to the sum of the constituents (A), (B) and (C), of a graft copolymer that can be obtained from (C1) between 60 and 90 wt. %, in relation to (C), of a core, (C2) between 5 and 20 wt. %, in relation to (C), of a first graft envelope consisting of a vinylaromatic monomer, an alkylmethacrylate and optionally a cross-linking monomer, and (C3) between 5 and 20 wt. %, in relation to (C), of a second graft envelope consisting of an alkyl(meth)acrylate polymer, on the proviso that the quantitative ratio of (C2) to (C3) is between 2:1 and 1:2. The invention is characterised in that the average particle size D50 of the core (C1) is between 50 and 250 nm, the average particle size D90 of the core (C1) is between 60 and 1000 nm, the average particle size D90 of the core (C1) being larger than the average particle size D50 of the core (C1), by a factor between 1.15 and 20, and the core (C1) can be obtained by the polymerisation of a monomer mixture comprising (C11) between 65 and 89 wt. %, in relation to (C1), of a 1,3-diene, (C12) between 10 and 34.9 wt. %, in relation to (C1), of a vinylaromatic monomer, and (C13) between 0.1 and 5 wt. %, in relation to (C1), of an agglomeration polymer. The invention also relates to a method for producing said moulding masses, to the use thereof, and to the moulded bodies obtained therefrom.

Abstract: The invention relates to a tube bundle heat exchanger (R) for removing dissolved substances from a polymer solution (P) by degassing, having a bundle of tubes (R) which are arranged parallel to one another and vertically and are fastened at both ends in each case in one tube plate (B), and having a degassing region below the lower tube plate (B), having an insert (1) in each tube (R), which insert (1) narrows the free throughflow cross section through the tube (R), and wherein the polymer solution (P) is supplied into the tubes (R) in a single-phase liquid state, and having a casing space around the tubes (R) which is traversed by a heat carrier, wherein the degassing takes place by means of a pressure drop between the inlet pressure of the polymer solution (P) in the tube bundle heat exchanger (R) and the degassing region, characterized in that each insert (1) is designed in such a way as to generate a pressure step between the inlet pressure and the pressure in the degassing region, by means of which pressure step a predefined low residual content of dissolved substances is obtained in the degassed polymer, and an additional heat input which is necessary for this purpose takes place via the heat carrier into the single-phase liquid polymer solution (P).

Abstract: A process for the salt-free coagulation of polymer dispersions in a rotor/stator assembly is disclosed. The rotor/stator assembly includes a casing, a rotor shaft rotatably mounted within the casing, a rotor having a conical surface affixed to the rotor shaft, and a stator affixed to the casing and concentrically associated with the rotor. The conical surface faces a surface of the stator to form an adjustable shear gap, which is surrounded by an annular space. A polymer dispersion is fed into the assembly and conveyed through the shear gap. During this conveyance, the polymer dispersion is precipitated at a predetermined shear rate and a predetermined shear deformation. The polymer dispersion is discharged from the assembly through an outlet neck, and the assembly is flushed with water using one or more ports formed in at least one of a pipeline coupled to the axial feed neck, the stator, and the casing.
