Abstract: In the production of rigid polyurethane foam by reacting (a) (modified) organic polyisocyanates with (b) compound(s) of mol. wt. over 400 containing NOTLESS 2 reactive H atoms and optionally (c) H-functional low-molecular chain extenders and/or crosslinking agents of mol. wt. less than 400 in the presence of (d) blowing agents, (e) catalysts and optionally (f) additives, component (b) contains (cyclo)alkyl-, aralkyl-, benzyl- and/or aryl-(alkoxy)alkanol(s) (I). In the production of rigid polyurethane (PUR) foam with low thermal conductivity by reacting: (a) organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanates with (b) compound(s) containing NOTLESS 2 reactive hydrogen (H) atoms and having a molecular weight of over 400 g/mole and optionally (c) H-functional low-molecular chain extenders and/or crosslinking agents of molecular weight less than 400 g/mole in the presence of (d) blowing agents, (e) catalysts and optionally (f) additives component (b) contains (cyclo)alkyl-, aralkyl-, benzyl- and/or aryl-(alkoxy)alkanol(s) of formula (I). R, R' = (m)ethyl, 3-6 carbon (C) alkyl or hydrogen (H); R' may also = benzyl; n = 0-4; m, o = 1-3; X = n-, iso-, neo- or cycloalkyl, aralkyl, benzyl or aryl; and m + o = 4. An Independent claim is also included for the use of compounds (I) in the production of rigid PUR foam with reduced thermal conductivity.

A process is also provided for preparing such a microcellular PU elastomer having improved dynamic mechanical properties. The microcellular PU elastomers can be used for producing damping elements.

Abstract: Foam stabilizers are used during production of rigid polyurethane foam which consist of alkoxylated organo-silicon compounds with a total silicon content of 5 wt.% or more and a relative weight ratio of (ethylene oxide)/(propylene oxide) (EO/PO) ≥ 70/30. A process for the production of rigid isocyanate-based foam comprises reacting: (a) optionally modified polyisocyanates, with (b) high mol.wt. compound(s) with at least two reactive hydrogen atoms, and optionally (c) low-mol.wt. chain extenders and/or crosslinkers, in presence of (d) carbon dioxide as the sole or additional blowing agent, (e) foam stabilizers, (f) catalysts, and optionally (g) other conventional additive(s). The foam stabilizers (e) comprise alkoxylated organo-silicon compounds with an Si content of 5 wt.% or more and EO/PO wt. ratio of ≥ 70/30

Abstract: In a composite element comprising layers of (i) polyisocyanate poly-addition product (PU), (ii) optionally at least one plastic, (iii) a gas permeation barrier and (iv) at least one thermoplastic, layers (iii) and (iv) are bonded together by melting a layer (iiia) between them. Independent claims are also included for: (a) sandwich elements with the following layers: (iv) 1-25 mm thermoplastic, (iii) 0.1-200 micro m metal foil coated on the opposite side from (i) and (ii) with 20-500 micro m thermoplastic (iiia) which is melted to bond (iii) with (iv), (ii) optionally 5-1000 micro m plastic, (i) 0.5-80 cm PU and then layers (ii), (iii) and (iv) as above; (b) tubes with the following layers: (iv) as above and/or metal as inner tube, (i), (ii), (iii) as above and (iv) (above) as an outer tube; (c) tubes with the following layers: (iv) plastic as above and/or metal as inner tube, (iii), (ii), (i), (ii), (iii) as above and (iv) plastic (above) as an outer tube; (d) the production of composite elements by reacting isocyanates with NCO-reactive compounds in the presence of blowing agents and optionally catalysts and other additives etc. in a reaction space bounded by layers (ii) (optional), (iii) gas barrier material, (iiia) 20-500 micro m thermoplastic and (iv) 1-25 mm thermoplastic(s), so that layer (iiia) is melted by the heat of reaction and binds layers (iii) and (iv) together after cooling; and (e) composite elements obtained by (d).

Abstract: La presente invencion se refiere a un elastomero PU con mejores características mecánicas y dinámicas, a base de un componente isocianato que consiste esencialmente en 4, 4'-MDI y de otros componentes normales. El elastomero propuesto, después del templado a temperaturas de 100-120 degree C durante 8-24 horas tiene un rango de fusion entre 130 degree C como límite inferior mínimo y 230 degree C como límite superior mínimo, medido por calorimetría de rastreo diferencial (CRF) a una velocidad de calentamiento de 20 degree C/min y un contenido de urea de 14-18% en peso. También se describe un proceso para producir éste elastomero PU microcelular con mejores características mecánicas-dinámicas y el uso de los elastomeros en la produccion de elementos amortiguadores.
