    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a polyester composition containing inert particles surface- treated with a specific compound, and capable of producing films excellent in abrasion resistance and scratch resistance and suitably used for magnetic recording media, etc. CONSTITUTION:The polyester composition is produced by adding or kneading (B) 0.01-10wt.% of inert particles surface-treated with a sulfonyl group or metal sulfonate group-containing compound of the formula (M is H, monovalent metal atom; R is organic group; X is functional group selected from OH, COOH, an alkoxycarbonyl group; (m) is 1 or 2; (n) is natural number) and having an average particle diameter of 0.005-2mum (preferably zirconium or aluminum oxide particles treated with 0.01-20wt.% of the compound of the formula) to the polymerization reaction system of (A) a thermoplastic polyester, preferably polyethylene terephthalate or polyethylene-2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate, or with the melted product of the component A. And the film comprises the composition.

CONSTITUTION:The title compsn. comprises a polyester prepd. from a dicarboxylic acid component mainly comprising an arom. dicarboxylic acid and a glycol component (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate), a particulate divinylbenzene-ethylvinylbenzene copolymer having a mean particle diameter of 0.01-5mum, and a particulate zirconium oxide having a mean particle diameter of 0.005-3mum.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a polyester compsn. which contains coarse particles only in a small proportion though it contains particles in a large proportion by adding a glycol slurry contg. the particles inert to the polyester in a specific way to the reaction system at the steps of esterification or transesterification and polycondensation for preparing the polyester. CONSTITUTION:In preparing a polyester by esterifying or transesterifying a dicarboxylic acid component contg. an arom. dicarboxylic acid as the main component or an ester-forming deriv. thereof with a glycol and polycondensing the resulting ester, a glycol slurry of particles inert to the polyester is added to the reaction system at least once after the conversion of esterification or transesterification reaches 0.2 or higher and before the completion of esterification or transesterification, and at least once after the completion of esterification or transesterification and before the intrinsic viscosity of the reaction product reaches 0.2 as a result of the progress of polycondensation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a separation membrane which can be utilized in a membrane distillation type separation method of a liquid-liquid system and a gas-liquid system and is improved in water-permeability by constituting the separation membrane of a hydrophobic porous membrane wherein hydrophilic substance is stuck on the surface of the fine holes. CONSTITUTION:A separation membrane is constituted by sticking hydrophilic substance (e.g. glycerin) on the surfaces of the fine holes of a hydrophobic porous membrane made of polytetrafluoroethylene, etc. The mean pore diameter of the fine holes is preferably regulated to a range within about 20Angstrom and about 0.1mum. Further the rate of amount of stuck hydrophilic substance for the weight of membrane material is preferably regulated to a range within about 0.01-5wt.%. This separation membrane is utilized in the membrane separation method of a liquid-liquid system wherein water contained in liquid is separated while holding the temp. as driving force of separation. Furthermore this separation membrane is utilized in the membrane separation of a gas-liquid system wherein liquid is supplied to the primary side of this membrane and the secondary side is held in a vapor phase and steam passed through this membrane is cooled and collected. As a result, the separation membrane is obtained which is excellent in water-permeability.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an alcoholic drink having an alcoholic concentration higher or lower than the starting stock solution by feeding an alcoholic drink on the high temperature side of a hydrophobic porous membrane and feeding the same alcoholic drink or other liquid on the low temperature side of the hydrophobic porous membrane. CONSTITUTION:An alcoholic drink as a starting stock solution is controlled to a prescribed temperature higher than the temperature fed to a secondary side by a heat exchanger 3, and fed to a primary side (high temperature side) of a module 4 provided with a hydrophobic porous membrane capable of prefer entially permeating a volatile organic liquid. On the other hand, after same alcoholic drink fed to the low temperature side or other liquid is controlled to a prescribed temperature lower than that of the fed liquid on the primary side by a heat exchanger 6, the liquor is fed to the secondary side of the above- mentioned module 4. The alcoholic ingredient is permeated from the primary side to the secondary side through the membrane of module 4 to provide the objective drink.
