The accelerometer (305) includes an integrated vent hole for use during a vacuum sealing process and a balanced metal pattern for reducing cap wafer bowing. The accelerometer (305) also includes a top cap press frame recess (405) and a bottom cap press frame recess (420) for isolating bonding pressures to specified regions of the accelerometer (305). The accelerometer (305) is vacuum-sealed and includes a balanced metal pattern (730) to prevent degradation of the performance of the accelerometer (305). A dicing process is performed on the accelerometer (305) to isolate the electrical leads of the accelerometer (305). The accelerometer (305) further includes overshock protection bumpers (720) and patterned metal electrodes to reduce stiction during the operation of the accelerometer (305).

Abstract: A two-conductor bidirectional digital telemetry interface between a seismic sensor acquisition/conversion module (40) and a seismic data collection modu le (20). The data collection module is configured as a master electronics devic e and the sensor acquisition/conversion module is configured as a slave electronics device in the telemetry system. The master device provides power to the slave device over the two conductors (36). The master device transmit s portions of a digital seismic data packet to the master at a different secon d time in a fixed-duration frame. The frames are transmitted at regular intervals. The outbound commands and inbound data are encoded by block codes . A phase-locked loop (54) in the slave is locked to a master clock (35) in th e master by deriving a clock and a sync point from the block-coded commands it receives from the master. The block code representing each command bit minimizes dc drift and provides a level transition in the command that can b e used to maintain synchronism between master and slave.
