    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a single device to interface through both radio systems of the IEEE 802.11 and the Bluetooth. SOLUTION: This device includes a 1st radio system (e.g. Bluetooth system) operating within a 1st operation frequency range and a 2nd radio system (e.g. IEEE 802.11 system). At least a part of the 1st and 2nd frequency ranges is overlapped. The device has a control means 106 for controlling the 1st and 2nd radio systems so that only one radio system can perform transmission at a time. The control means 106 has a multiplexing means performing time multiple transmission from the 1st and 2nd radio system. The transmission of the IEEE 802.11 and the Bluetooth is multiplexed into a Bluetooth time slot.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intelligent optical transmitter module to be used to produce optical test signals. SOLUTION: The optical transmitter module is provided with a solid-state laser and a microprocessor. The solid-state laser produces the test signals to be used for testing optical fibers in an optical fiber network. The laser is monitored and controlled by the microprocessor. In one embodiment, backface monitoring and optical output coupling power monitoring (using an optical tap) are accomplished within the module to more exactly reflect the state of the laser. The microprocessor reads data on the performance of the solid-state laser outputted to another controller. A controller uses the data from the microprocessor for analyzing an optical fiber loop condition and analyzing the laser itself. The microprocessor can control the output level of the solid-state laser by a digital/analog converter. Further, the test signal outputted from the module may be composed of a pulse train or a continuous wave as well.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adjusting method for an automatic voltage-controlled oscillator. SOLUTION: In a voltage-controlled oscillator having been adjusted by an adjusting stub, a 1st stub short-circuited part is disclosed, which is adhered across a conductive runner of the adjusting stub at a distance favorably longer than a distance of deriving a desired operation frequency. Here, the voltage- controlled oscillator is excited and tested to determine its operation frequency. The position of a 2nd stub short-circuited part is determined, according to the operation frequency of the oscillator, based upon the presence of the 1st stub short-circuit part, the geometrical shape of the adjusting stub, and the desired operation frequency of the voltage-controlled oscillator. The 2nd stub short-circuited part is accurately positioned along the stub, corresponding to the position of the 1st stub short-circuited part by using an automatic device, so as to derive the desirable operation frequency of the voltage-controlled oscillator. According to the relative positions of the 1st and 2nd stub short-circuited parts corresponding to the voltage-controlled oscillator, the 1st stub short- circuited part is removed. The voltage-controlled oscillator can be excited and tested again, so as to match the desirable operation frequency.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure correct channel selection without turning off a laser light source of a system during a channel selection process in a wavelength stabilized control system. SOLUTION: A laser module 110 has a first output 120 connected to an optical link and a second output 122 connected to a controller 160 via a signal discriminator circuit 130. The controller 160 controls a channel selection process for the system 100. During the channel selection process, the controller 160 adjusts a gain section, a modulator and an amplifier as necessary to reduce the transmission power of the first output 120 and the second output 122 so that the first output 120 can not be detected by a receiver (far-end user of the system 100) connected to the link 120. The controller 160 initiates the channel selection process by adjusting the laser module 110 and monitoring etalon characteristics of the second output 122.
