    Abstract: In a particular embodiment, a method is disclosed that includes receiving a feedback message at a transmitter, the feedback message including an indication of a magnitude of congestion and a sustainable rate of data transmission at a receiver. The method also includes determining a decongestion rate and a decongestion time based on at least one of the sustainable rate of data transmission and the magnitude of congestion when the magnitude of congestion satisfies a threshold value. The method further includes sending data at the decongestion rate from the transmitter to the receiver for the decongestion time. The method also includes adjusting a data transmission rate at the transmitter to the sustainable rate of data transmission after the decongestion time is ended.

    Abstract: An algorithm for improving efficiency of data attachment points (DAPs) in a wireless access network (AN) is provided herein. By way of example, the a lgorithm can identify a serving access point (APs) coupling an access termin al (AT) to the wireless AN. A cost metric for the serving AP can be determin ed with respect to at least one data network access gateway (AGW) of the wir eless AN. The cost metric can be compared with a similar cost metric of a cu rrent or default DAP assigned to the AT. If the cost metric of the serving A P is lower than the cost metric of the current/default DAP, the DAP can be r e-assigned to the serving AP, minimizing wireless AN resource costs associat ed with the DAP.

    Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to providing adaptive encoding of real-time information in packet-switched wireless communication systems. In an embodiment, a rate-adaptation unit may be configured to receive local as well as end-to-end feedback information associated with data transmission (such as data delay, packet loss, transmit power headroom, channel condition, sector loading, the amount of buffered data, etc.) from a wireless access module in communication with wireless/wired networks, and adapt the real-time information encoding in accordance with such feedback information.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to reverse link lower layer assisted video error control. A method may encode video data, form a packet with the encoded video data, and transmit the packet across a wireless channel to an access network. A medium access control (MAC) layer may receive a negative acknowledgement (NAK) from the access network. The method may determine whether the received NAK is associated with a packet that contains video data. If the received NAK is associated with a packet that contains video data, the method may perform error control.
