    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a composition for a polyimide resin improved in heat resistance, dimensional stability, mechanical strengths, etc., by mixing a specified polyamide resin and carbon fibers. CONSTITUTION:A polyamic acid represented by formula II (wherein R is a tetravelent group selected from among a 2 C or higher aliphatic group, a cycloaliphatic group, a monocyclic aromatic group, a fused polycyclic aromatic group and a nonfused polycyclic aromatic group composed of aromatic groups bonded to each other directly or through bridging members) and obtained by reacting an ether diamine represented by formula I (wherein Y is a 1-10C bivalent hydrocarbon group, hexafluoroisopropylidene, carbonyl, thio, sulfinyl or oxido) with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride is cyclized through dehydration to obtain a polyimide resin comprising repeating units represented by formula III. 100 pts.wt. this resin is mixed with 5-100 pts.wt. carbon fibers having a diameter of 5-20mum and an aspect ratio of 1-600.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a polyurethane foam having a low free blow density, free from a blister of a foam and excellent in moldability with an excellent productivity even when carbonic acid gas is used as a foaming agent without using a (substitute) flon by using a specified inflating agent. CONSTITUTION:(A) An aromatic polyisocyanate (preferably, e.g. polymethylene- polyphenyl isocyanate containing polynuclear substances of >= trinuclear substance in an amount of 260wt.%), (B) a high-molecular compound reactive with an isocyanate (e.g. a polyol synthesized by additional polymerization of ethylene oxide to propylene glycol), (C) an inflating agent composed of a salt between an organic carboxylic acid (preferably formic acid, etc.) and a tert-amine (e.g. 1-methylimidazole) and, if necessary, a cross-linking agent, a catalyst, a foaming agent, a foam stabilizer and other assistant agents are blended. The resultant mixture is charged into a mold to obtain the objective product having 0.3 to 0.8g/cm molding density. In addition, reaction injection molding method is preferably used as the molding method.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a thermoplastic resin composition improved in melt moldability by mixing the thermoplastic resin with a liquid crystal aromatic polyimide. CONSTITUTION:The resin composition comprises 99.9-50 pts.wt. at least one thermoplastic resin (a) and 0.1-50 pts.wt. at least one liquid crystal aromatic polyimide (b). A preferred example of the polyimide (b) has a backbone made up of repeating units represented by the formula. In the formula, R1 to R5 may be the same or different and each is hydrogen, fluorine, trifluoromethyl, methyl, ethyl, or cyano, and R is a 2-27C tetravalent group selected from a monocyclic aromatic group, a fused aromatic group, and a nonfused aromatic group consisting of aromatic groups bonded together directly or through a cross-linking member. The resin (a) is one selected from an aromatic polyimide, an aromatic polyetherimide, an aromatic polyamideimide, an aromatic polyethersulfone, and an aromatic polyetherketone.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyimide copolymer containing two kinds of specific repeating units in specified amounts, respectively, in the polymer molecule and excellent in melt flowability, flexibility, etc. CONSTITUTION:This copolymer contains 50-99 (equivalent) pts. of repeating units of formula I and 50-1 pts. of repeating units of formula II and/or is composed of aromatic rings substantially not having substituents at the ends of the polymer or substituted with groups not having reactivity with dicarboxylic acids or amines. The copolymer is produced e.g. by reacting a compound of formula III and a compound of formula IV as an aromatic diamine component with a compound of formula V and/or compound of formula VI (Z is a divalent group such as 6-15C aliphatic group, alicyclic group or monocyclic aromatic group)(preferably phthalic anhydride), etc., in an amount of 0.001-1.0 mole per mole of the compounds of formulas III and IV and subsequently imidating the produced polyamic acid with heat or the like.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a thermoplastic polyimide which not only has the excellent heat resistance inherent in polyimides but also has liquid crystallinity and good moldability by using as a monomer an aromatic diamine having a specific molecular structure. CONSTITUTION:The polyimide has a structural repeating unit represented by formula I, wherein X is F or CH3 and R is a tetravalent group selected from among a 2-27C aliphatic group, an alicyclic group, a monocyclic aromatic group, a condensed aromatic group, and a noncondensed polycyclic aromatic group consisting of aromatic groups bonded together directly or through a cross-linking member. It is obtained by reacting an aromatic diamine represented by formula II (wherein X is as defined above) mainly with a tetracaboxylic dianhydride represented by formula III (wherein R is as defined above) and thermally or chemically imidizing the resulting poly (amic acid).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an aromatic polyamide having excellent heat resistance and processability and capable of being melt molded by the polycondensation of 4,4'-bis(3-aminobenzoyl)diphenyl ether and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid dihalide. CONSTITUTION:4,4'-Bis(3-aminobenzoyl)diphenyl ether of formula I and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid dihalide (e.g. terephthaloyl chloride) are subjected to polycondensation reaction at 60 deg.C or lower in an organic solvent in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent (e.g. trieghylamine). Thus, an aromatic polyamide of formula II [wherein X is an aromatic group having fused rings or formula III (wherein Y is a direct bond, O, S, SO2, CO, CH2, etc.; R is 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy, halogen or phenyl; a is 0, 1 or 2 and b is 0 or 1-4); and n is 1-1000] is obtained. The obtained aromatic polyamide is useful as a raw material for spacecraft and aircraft equipment and fibers with a high heat resistance.
