    Abstract: A two piece cable tie (100) is provided having an improved locking device support. The cable tie (100) includes a strap (104) with a first end and a free end, a locking head (102) having a strap accepting channel (122), and a metal locking device (136) mounted within an anchoring housing region of the head to form a cantilever beam having a mounted end (134) fixed to a support of the locking head and a free end (138) positioned within the strap accepting channel (122). The strap (104) includes a central inwardly projecting groove of a predefined width that defines a thinned portion extending along a longitudinal axis of the strap (104) to the free end of the strap. The strap accepting channel (122) has a channel width W1 defined between an end wall (124) and the inner wall (126). The strap accepting channel (122) also includes a support guide (114) projecting from the inner wall of the locking head (102) into the strap accepting channel (122) to restrict the width of the channel accepting channel to a width W2, which is less than W1. The free end (138) of the metal locking device (136) has a length L that is greater than W2 and preferably no greater than W1. The support guide (114) has a width transverse to the width of the strap accepting channel (122) that is less than the predefined width of the projecting groove (110) of the strap. The support guide (114) also includes a ledge (116) that provides a support surface for the metal locking device (136) that changes the locking device (136) from one having a cantilever support to one with a simple beam support when the locking device (136) is bent downward by a sufficient withdrawal force. This withdrawal force is sufficient to cause the locking device (136) to fully pierce the thinned portion of the strap (104), which allows the free end (138) of the locking device (136) to rest upon the ledge (116).

    Abstract: A metal cable tie (22) is disclosed. The cable tie (22) includes an elongate metallic strap (28), a metallic locking head (24), and metallic roller means (32). The strap (28) has a first end (26) and a second end (30) opposite the first end (26). The head (24) is secured to the first end (26) of the strap (28) for receiving the second end (30) of the strap (28). The head (24) comprises a strap entry face (48), a strap exit face (50), and a strap-receiving aperture (52) extending therebetween. The head (24) also comprises a floor (54) and a roof (40) which diverge in the direction of the exit face (50). The head (24) further comprises at least one indentation (36) on a first side thereof and at least one indentation (36) on a second side thereof. The metallic roller means (32) lockingly engages the strap (28), and the head (24) comprises retention means (56) disposed adjacent the exit face (50) for captively holding the roller means (32) within the head (24). The roller means (32) is movable between a threading position wherein the roller means (32) is disposed adjacent the exit face (50) and the retention means (56), and a locking position wherein the roller means (32) is closer to the entry face (48). The first end (26) of the strap (28) comprises at least one rib (38) disposed adjacent the head (24).

    Abstract: A modular raceway outlet station for use with a trunking duct which has a divider wall and a top access opening, includes an offset power box having a projection extending lateral from a top wall of the box having a top portion and an abutment portion which depends from the furthest extent of the top portion and is adapted to be substantially aligned with an edge of the top access opening, wherein the abutment portion does not project into the top access opening; and an opening formed in the abutment portion of the projection which communicates with an aperture formed in a side wall of the box adjacent the duct. Wherein, the power conductors may be routed out of and over the duct, and into the offset power box before installation of the extension and the power conductors remain completely isolated from the communication conductors after the extension is installed.
