    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of elastomeric molded parts having urethane or urethane and urea linkages which comprises reacting (a) an organic polyisocyanate, (b) a polyhydroxyl compound selected from the group consisting of (i) polyester polyols with molecular weights of 1000 to 3000 and hydroxyl numbers of 170 to 35 produced by polycondensation of organic dicarboxylic acids and a polyol mixture of at least 3 polyols; (ii) polyether polyols having terminal ester groups, molecular weights of 1000 to 8000 and hydroxyl numbers of 170 to 15; and (iii) mixtures thereof; (c) a chain extender wherein components (a) through (c) are processed according to reaction injection molding techniques in open or closed molds. The reaction is preferably carried out as a one-shot process and may also be carried out in the presence of blowing agents (d), auxiliaries (e), and additives (e). The non-cellular and/or microcellular elastomeric molded parts produced according to the method of this invention are particularly well suited for use in the automobile industry, for example, as bumper covers and body parts such as fenders, spoilers, wheel well expansions as well as engineering housing parts and runners. The cellular foams are used, for example, as shoe soles, armrests, headrests, safety coverings in the passenger compartment in automobiles as well as motorcycle and bicycle seats, seat cushions and cover layers in composite foams.

    Abstract: The binder consists of a copolymer of (A) 1-25 pts. mono-olefinically unsatd. polyhydroxyl cpd(s).; (B) 10-80 pts. ester(s) of 3-5 C alpha, beta-olefinically unsatd. mono- or di-carboxylic acid with 1-12C alcohol and/or another copolymerisable olefinically unsatd. cpd.; (C) 3-15 pts. 3-5C olefinically unsatd. mono- or di-carboxylic acid(s); and (D) 0-30 pts. olefinically unsatd. cpd. with reactive gps., e.g. amide, OH, epoxide, sulphonic acid, acetoacetate and alkylolether and ester gps., component (A) being reaction prod(s). of olefinically unsatd. hydroxyl cpd.(s) and an epoxide resin. The binder is used for electro-dip (electrophoretic) coating. It is simple, non susceptible to defects and gives esp. good protection against corrosion. (A) pref. is reaction prod(s). of vinyl-alkanol or vinyl alkylol ether or thioether or a mono(meth)acrylate of a 2-6C polyol or oxyalcohol with epoxide resin based on bisphenol A. The binder can be combined with 40-10 (30-15)% P-F or M-F resin.

    Abstract: The material contains acrylate resin binder (A), a curing agent (B), an OH-contg. cpd. (C) and usual additives (D). (A) has a softening pt. of 60-120 degrees C and comprises (a) 30-100wt.% >=1 ester of an olefinically unsatd. 3-5C mono/di-carboxylic acid monomer, (b) 0-70 wt.% of a vinylaromatic (c) 0-40 wt.% >=1 monoester of polyhydric 2-10C (oxa)alcohol and an olefinically unsatd. 3-5C mono/di-carboxylic acid comonomer and (d) 0-40 wt.% olefinically unsatd. 3-5C mono/di-carboxylic acid comonomer. (B) is an acidic cpd. and/or >=1 transesterification catalyst and (C) is >=1 di/polyol (solid at r.t.) and/or >=2 free OH/molecule contg. polymer.
