    Abstract: Process for prepg. coating by heating at 130-200 degrees C an (e.g. electrostatically) applied powder coating comprising a copolymer formed from (in wt.%) (1) 15-80 meth(acrylic)esters of 1-8C alkanols; (2) 10-80 alkenylbenzenes of 8-10C (3) 5-40 ethers of unsatd carboxylic N-methylolamides the acid residue contg 3-5C and the ether gp 1-8C (4) 0-20 glycol mono-acrylate or methacrylate (5) 0-20 3-5C enoic acid (6) 0-20 other monoolefins. (1)-(6) are bulk, suspension or emulsion copolymerised using an initiator a water-dilutable protective colloid and 1-25% epoxide resin and opt. other additives. Powder produced requires milder curing conditions, is insensitive to impurities, gives high gloss finish, and has high resistance to solvents and abrasion.

    Abstract: Production of pigmented resin powders by finely dispersing dispersions of pigments in solutions of polymeric materials in at least one organic solvent in water containing a protective colloid while supplying mixing energy, and removing the solvent. A preferred method is to introduce one or more jets of water containing protective colloid at the rate of 5 to 100 m/sec into animpulse exchange chamber together with the dispersion issuing in the immediate vicinity of the orifice(s), and to remove the solvent. The method avoids crosslinking and provides pigmented resin powders of consistently reproducible color which are suitable for conventional powdered-resin coating methods.

    Abstract: The material contains acrylate resin binder (A), a curing agent (B), an OH-contg. cpd. (C) and usual additives (D). (A) has a softening pt. of 60-120 degrees C and comprises (a) 30-100wt.% >=1 ester of an olefinically unsatd. 3-5C mono/di-carboxylic acid monomer, (b) 0-70 wt.% of a vinylaromatic (c) 0-40 wt.% >=1 monoester of polyhydric 2-10C (oxa)alcohol and an olefinically unsatd. 3-5C mono/di-carboxylic acid comonomer and (d) 0-40 wt.% olefinically unsatd. 3-5C mono/di-carboxylic acid comonomer. (B) is an acidic cpd. and/or >=1 transesterification catalyst and (C) is >=1 di/polyol (solid at r.t.) and/or >=2 free OH/molecule contg. polymer.
