Abstract: A spring assembly is provided for an upward acting door that travels on a travel path while opening. The assembly includes a shaft, a torsion spring and a second spring. The torsion spring is connected to the shaft and provides a lifting force for the door throughout the travel path. The second spring is connected to the shaft and provides a lifting force for the door during only a portion of the travel path. In another aspect, a spring assembly is provided for an upward acting door that travels on a travel path while closing. The torsion spring is connected to the shaft and provides a weight supporting force for the door throughout the travel path. The second spring is connected to the shaft and provides a weight supporting force for the door during only a portion of the travel path.

Abstract: A vehicle sliding door mechanism is arranged to move a door from a door opening provided in a vehicle side body structure from a closed position to an open position. The sliding door mechanism comprises an upper slide rail and a lower slide rail fixed to the vehicle side body structure. An upper slider is associated with the upper rail and is movable along the upper rail, and a lower slider is associated with the lower rail and is movable along the lower rail. An upper link assembly operatively connected to the vehicle door and the upper slider, and a lower link assembly is operatively connected to the vehicle door and the lower slider. At least one link assembly of the upper link assembly and lower link assembly is configured to control a moment of force about a pivot axis while moving the vehicle door between the closed position and the open position. The moment of force is one of an opening moment and a closing moment and is dependent on a position of the vehicle door relative to the vehicle side body structure. The at least one link assembly is configured such that the moment of force is substantially zero between when the vehicle door moves between the closed position and the open position.

Abstract: A lock latch mechanism disposed within a powered locking device of a transit vehicle door system for maintaining a lock lever in an unlock position without the aid of the lock actuator. The lock latch mechanism includes a lock latch lever biased for engagement with an unlock cam through the use of a bias spring. The lock latch mechanism further includes a reset lever assembly engaging such lock latch lever during the door closing motion to allow movement of the lock lever form such unlocking position into such locking position to maintain at least one door of the transit vehicle in the fully closed and lock position. A manual release lever is provided to move the lock lever from such locking position into such unlocking position enabling the lock latch mechanism to maintain the lock lever in such unlocked position.

Abstract: An electrically actuated door holder and release for the multipoint holding of a pivoted door throughout a range of door open angles, and for the release of a held door either electrically or in response to manual override. The door holder comprises a channel which pivotally supports through linkages an elongated hold-open bar. An elongated friction strip is carried by the hold-open bar. The hold-open bar is normally held in hold-open position under tension by an armature spring coupled to the holdopen bar. The channel is formed with a slot which guides a slide block which moves linearly along the length of the hold-open bar in response to changes in the angle of door opening. The slide block carries a pivotally supported hold-open cam which engages the friction strip to effect door hold open in the event the armature linkage is further placed under tension by energization of an electromagnet. Upon deenergization of the electromagnet, or alternatively upon the application of a manual override door closing force, the hold-open bar is pivoted away from the slide block and the friction strip engaging cam and the door is released.
