Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chromatography column having continuous beds formed in column from an aqueous solution without using a porogen. SOLUTION: There is provided a chromatography column having a continuous solid bet spanning the cross section of the column. The chromatography column wherein the bed contains channels large enough for hydrodynamic flow is prepared by polymerizing a mixture of monomers and ammonium sulfate in an aqueous solution. The monomer includes a monofunctional monomer such as a vinyl, allyl, acrylic, or methacrylic compound and a polyfunctional monomer (i.e., a crosslinker). The total monomer concentration is in the range of 10% to 20% by weight, the mole ratio of crosslinker to total monomer is in the range of 0.3 to 0.4 and the ammonium sulfate has a concentration in the range of 0.4 M to 0.8 M. Functional groups to impart specialized separation capabilities, notably anion and cation exchange, can be included in the monomer mixture.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method of a spectrum response capable of shortening the period of time required for measurement. SOLUTION: A method is shown for measuring a spectrum response of a sample during test relative to a plurality of modulations including a phase modulation and a sample modulation by means of a step scanning Fourier transform spectrum meter including an interferometer 12, a detector 22, and a digital signal processor(DSP) 36. In one embodiment, this method is employed for obtaining a phase modulation angle and sample modulation angle in use of the DSP 36, obtaining interference images relative to a calibration stationary sample response by the use of the measured phase modulation rotational angle, and obtaining other images corresponding to the calibrated dynamic sample response with the use of both the rotational angles of the measured phase and sample modulation, thereby calculating one or more spectra from interference images that designate the sample calibration response relative to a plurality of modulations.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a processing method in which the spectrum of a desired signal is obtained by a method wherein the Fourier transform of a transient signal is subtracted from the Fourier transform of a composite signal from a detector. SOLUTION: A rear number part in the Fourier transform of a transient signal is subtracted from a real number part in the Fourier transform of a composite signal, and the in-phase component of a desired spectrum is derived. That is to say, Re X (Kamf)}=Re Y (Kpmf)}-Re S (Kpmf)}, where X (Kpmf) represents the value of the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) of a phase- modulated signal at a phase modulation frequency, and S (Kpmf) represents the value of the DFT of a step transient signal. The quadrature component of a desired spectrum is derived in the same manner with reference to an imaginary number part in a transform.
