    Abstract: A liquid chromatography sample manager includes a thermal chamber, a sample platter 110 mounted in the thermal chamber, and a needle drive including a base 230 having a shaft configured to rotate about a vertical axis, the base attachable to an interior of a sample manager of a liquid chromatography system. The needle drive further includes a needle assembly attached to the base, the needle assembly including a sample needle 122, and a drive system 112 attached to the base, the drive system including a sample needle motor configured to impart vertical movement of the sample needle.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method of separating a sample including a mycotoxin. The method includes flowing the sample through a column to load the sample on the column, washing the column to reduce impurities, eluting the mycotoxin from the column, collecting an eluted sample with the mycotoxin in a sample plate, sealing the eluted sample in the sample plate, transferring the sealed sample plate, removing the eluted sample from the transferred sample plate; and analyzing the removed eluted sample. The column can include an affinity resin, such as, for example, an immunoaffinity resin. The sample plate can be a 96-well plate.

    Abstract: Described is a method for determining a dwell volume of a liquid chromatography system and a liquid chromatography system that can determined the system dwell volume. The method includes mixing a flow of a first solvent with a flow of a second solvent to form a solvent mixture. The flows of the first and second solvents are decreased and increased, respectively, to generate a gradient composition. A system pressure of the liquid chromatography system is measured to determine a pressure trace defined as the measured system pressure as a function of time. The dwell volume of the system is determined from a time delay determined between the gradient composition at the mixing location and the pressure trace. The method can be performed with a liquid chromatography system having a chromatographic column or a flow restrictor used in place of the chromatographic column.

    Abstract: Described is a method for loading a sample-vial carrier into a sample manager of a liquid chromatography system. The method includes placing a sample-vial carrier onto a transfer drawer having first and second drawer magnets. The transfer drawer is transported into a sample tray of a sample manager using a drawer drive system of a transfer drawer receiving apparatus. The drawer drive system has a drive magnet that is engaged with the first drawer magnet during transport. The transport of the transfer drawer is terminated when the second drawer magnet is engaged with a sample tray magnet on the sample tray. The sample tray is rotated about an axis substantially perpendicular to a direction of transport of the transfer drawer to provide a shear force to disengage the first drawer magnet from the drive magnet.

    Abstract: Described are an interface module for two-dimensional chromatography and a method of performing a chromatographic separation that may use the interface module. The interface module includes a valve module, a collection needle, a modifier module and a sample storage element. The valve module has a first port configured to receive an eluent from a first chromatography system, a second port configured to provide a fraction obtained from the eluent, a third port and a fourth port. The collection needle and the modifier module are in fluidic communication with the valve module at the third and fourth ports, respectively. The modifier module includes a source of a modifier solvent. The sample storage element is in fluidic communication with the valve module and is configured to receive a volume of the fraction for injection as a sample into a second chromatography system.
