    Abstract: In various embodiments, the present disclosure pertains to organic polymer core-shell particles that comprise a non-porous organic polymer core (i.e., having a pore volume of less than 0.1 cc/g) and a porous organic polymer shell (i.e., having a pore volume of greater than 0.1 cc/g), in which the porous organic polymer shell has a pore size ranging from 100 Å to 3000 Å. In some embodiments, the present disclosure pertains to chromatographic separation devices that comprise such organic polymer core-shell particles. In some embodiments, the present disclosure pertains to chromatographic methods that comprise: (a) loading a sample onto a chromatographic column comprising such organic polymer core-shell particles and (b) flowing a mobile phase through the column.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method of characterizing proteins in a sample. The method includes: removing non-ionic surfactant from the sample via denaturing size-exclusion chromatography to form a denatured sample; eluting the denatured sample via liquid chromatography to collect fractions of the sample, wherein the fractions of the sample include a protein fraction; lyophilizing the protein fraction to increase protein concentration; reconstituting the lyophilized protein fraction with a buffer comprising a surfactant to denature the protein; digesting the denatured protein fraction with an enzyme; and analyzing the digested protein fraction.

    Abstract: Described is a solvent manager for a liquid chromatography system. The solvent manager includes a temperature control module, a plurality of solvent reservoirs, a gradient proportioning valve and a degasser. The temperature control module maintains a substantially constant temperature of one or more of the plurality of solvent reservoirs, gradient proportioning valve and degasser. The temperature control module may include a thermal chamber having an enclosure with a thermally controlled internal environment and may also include an active thermal element such as one or more heaters. The enclosure may surround at least one of the plurality of solvent reservoirs, gradient proportioning valve and degasser. The temperature control module reduces the negative effects on solvent composition that result from temperature-dependent changes in solvent viscosities and solvent densities. Such changes affect the retention times of analytes eluted from the chromatographic column.
