Abstract: A core-sheath filament having a non-tacky sheath and a hot-melt processable adhesive core, the sheath exhibiting a melt flow index of less than 15 grams per 10 minutes, is provided. Methods of making the core-sheath filament and methods of using the core-sheath filament to print a hot-melt processable adhesive onto a primer-treated substrate surface to provide a structural bond are described.

Abstract: A filament article containing a curable composition is provided. The filament article has a first part containing an epoxy resin and a second part containing a polyamine having at least two secondary or primary amino groups. The first part is surrounded by a sheath and a second part surrounded by a sheath. Either 1) the first part surrounded by the sheath and the second part surrounded by the sheath are each a separate filament or 2) the first part surrounded by the sheath and the second part surrounded by the sheath combine to form a composite filament. The curable filament article can be used to form a cured composition having structural bonding performance.

Abstract: A core-sheath filament including a crosslinkable adhesive core that can be cured using ultraviolet or visible light radiation. These crosslinkable adhesive core compositions can provide very high bond strength and are capable of replacing traditional mechanical fasteners in many industrial applications. Core-sheath filaments including such crosslinkable compositions, crosslinked compositions, articles containing these compositions, and methods of making the articles are provided. The crosslinkable compositions contain pendant aromatic ketone groups or pendant (meth)acryloyl groups that, upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation, result in the formation of crosslinks within the polymeric material. The crosslinked compositions can function as pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Abstract: The present invention is an assembly layer for a flexible device. Within a temperature range of between about −30° C. to about 90° C., the assembly layer has a shear storage modulus at a frequency of 1 Hz that does not exceed about 2 MPa, a shear creep compliance (J) of at least about 6×10−6 1/Pa measured at 5 seconds with an applied shear stress between about 50 kPa and about 500 kPa, and a strain recovery of at least about 50% at at least one point of applied shear stress within the range of about 5 kPa to about 500 kPa within about 1 minute after removing the applied shear stress. The assembly layer includes at least one of a polyisoprene, a polybutadiene, an olefin block copolymer, a polyisobutylene, and high alkyl polyolefin.

The adhesive composition includes a base polymer and an additive for absorbing UV light, such as a benzotriazole or a benzophenone. When the adhesive composition is in contact with the electrical conductor, the electrical conductor has less than about a 20% change in electrical resistance over a period of about 500 hours.
