    Abstract: An essentially solventless pigmented aqueous formulation which comprises:i) at least one polymer A in the form of polymer particles in disperse distribution, said particles comprising,from 80 to 99.9% by weight, based on the overall weight of the polymer A, of a water-insoluble polymer 1 having a glass transition temperature Tg1 in the range from -50 to +40° C., built up from ethylenically unsaturated monomers M1, andfrom 0.1 to 20% by weight, based on the overall weight of the polymer A, of one or more water-insoluble polymers i having a glass transition temperature Tgi of more than 50° C., built up from ethylenically unsaturated monomers Mi,ii) at least one pigment and, if desired, one or more extenders.

    Abstract: An aqueous, pigmented coating material contains (i) a film-forming polymer dispersion based on 80-99.95 wt% 2-20C alkyl or 5 cycloalkyl (meth)acrylate(s), 0.05-10 wt% unsaturated carboxylic, sulfonic or phosphonic acid and optionally other monomers, (ii inorganic pigment and optional fillers and (iii) 0.05-0.3 wt% non-polymerizable photoinitiator. An aqueous, pigment-containing coating material with a pigment volume concentration of at least 10 and essentially free fro volatile organic compounds (VOC), containing (i) aqueous polymer dispersion(s) which are film-forming at room temperature, containing polymer(s) (P) derived from (A) 80-99.95 wt% (meth)acrylate esters of 2-20C alkanols or 5-10C cycloalkanols, (B) 0.05 wt% unsaturated carboxylic, sulfonic or phosphonic acid(s) and/or their salts and (C) 0-20 wt% monomers other than (A) and (B), inorganic pigment(s) and optionally inorganic or organic fillers, (iii) non-polymerizable photoinitiator(s) in amounts of betwee 0.05 and less than 0.3 wt% based on (P) and (iv) water and conventional auxiliary substances. An Independent claim is also inclu for a process for coating substrates by applying the above coating material to the substrate.
