Abstract: The production of fireproof rigid polyurethane foam by reacting polyisocyanates with polyols in presence of water and/or other blowing agents involves adding flour and/or starch in combination with acid-forming fire retardant(s) to the reaction mixture, the flour/starch being used in a pumpable form obtained by mixing with a liquid fire retardant and/or polyol. Independent claims are also included for (1) a method for the production of starch suspensions in a form which can be metered by pumping for use in fireproof rigid polyurethane foam, by mixing flour and/or starch with a liquid fire retardant and/or a polyol (2) fireproof rigid polyurethane foam obtained by this method.

Abstract: Flexible polyurethane foams are prepared by reaction of organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanates, a polyol mixture comprising greater than 50 wt.% of an at least bifunctional polyesterol and less than 25 wt.% of an at least bifunctional polyetherol in the presence of water and/or other propellants and catalysts. Flexible polyurethane foams (I) are prepared by reaction of (A) organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanates, (B) a polyol mixture comprising (B1) greater than 50 wt.% of an at least bifunctional polyesterol based on adipic acid and multifunctional alcohols having an OH number of 40-100 mgKOH/g (B2) less than 25 wt.% of an at least bifunctional polyetherol based on propylene oxide and/or butylene oxide having an OH number of greater than 25 mgKOH/g and optionally (B3) 0-25 wt.% of at least one other polyetherol based on ethylene oxide, propylene oxide and/or butylene oxide with a primary OH group content of greater than 30%, (C) optionally compounds having isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms in the presence of (D) water and/or other propellants (E) catalysts and (F) optionally other processing aids and additives.

Abstract: Sound-damping and energy-absorbing flexible PUR foams are produced by reacting organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanates (a) with a polyetherol mixture (b) and, if desired, further compounds (c) bearing hydrogen atoms which are reactive toward isocyanates, in the presence of water and/or other blowing agents (d), catalysts (e) and, if desired, further auxiliaries and additives (f), wherein the polyetherol mixture (b) comprises b1) at least one bifunctional to eight-functional polyetherol based on propylene oxide and/or butylene oxide and ethylene oxide, where the proportion of ethylene oxide, based on the total amount of alkylene oxide used, is more than 40% by weight, and having an OH number of from 20 to 1000 mg KOH/g and a proportion of primary OH groups of greater than 50%, with the proviso that b1) comprises at least one at least bifunctional polyetherol b1.1) having an OH number of from 20 to 100 mg KOH/g, b2) at least one bifunctional to six-functional polyetherol based on propylene oxide and/or butylene oxide and having an OH number of greater than 30 mg KOH/g and b3) at least one further polyetherol based on ethylene oxide and propylene oxide and having a proportion of primary OH groups of more than 25%, where the component b1) is used in a proportion of more than 30% by weight, based on the total weight of the polyetherol mixture (b). The sound-damping and energy-absorbing PUR foams produced by this process can be used as energy absorbers, damping material and for filling hollow spaces.
