    Abstract: alpha -Monoolefins are polymerized using a Ziegler catalyst system comprising (1) a transition metal catalyst component and (2) an organoaluminum catalyst component, in which (1) is a solid-phase product (VI) obtained by (1.1) first combining (1.1.1) an inorganic oxidic substance (I), as the carrier, with (1.1.2) a solution (II) consisting of (IIa) an organic solvent and (IIb) a transition metal composition to form a suspension (III), evaporating down this suspension to form a solid-phase intermediate (IV), and (1.2) then (1.2.1) combining the solid-phase intermediate (IV), obtained from (1.1), with (1.2.2) a solution of an organoaluminum compound (V) to form a suspension, the resulting suspended solid-phase product (VI) being the transition metal catalyst component (1). The characteristic feature is that (1) is a solid-phase product (VI) obtained using a solution (II) consisting of (IIa) a certain oxahydrocarbon and (IIb) a mixture of (IIb1) a vanadium trichloride/alcohol complex, (IIb2) a titanium trihalide and (IIb3) a zirconium tetrahalide.

    Abstract: The invention relates to the homopolymerization and copolymerization of ethene by means of a Ziegler catalyst system comprising (1) a transition-metal catalyst component, (2) an organoaluminium catalyst component and (3) optionally an organohalogen catalyst component, characterized in that (1) is the solid-phase product (VI) obtained by (1.1) first combining (1.1.1) an inorganic oxidic material (I) as support substance and (1.1.2) a solution (II) of (IIa) a certain oxahydrocarbon and (IIb) a mixture of (IIb1) a vanadium trichloride/alcohol complex, (IIb2) a titanium trihalide or titanium trihalide/alcohol complex and optionally (IIb3) a zirconium tetrahalide, with formation of a dispersion (III), evaporating the latter with formation of a solid-phase intermediate (IV), and (1.2) then (1.2.1) combining the intermediate (IV) from (1.1) and (1.2.2) a particular dissolved aluminium component (V) with formation of a dispersion, where the solid-phase product (VI) obtained as the dispersed material is the transition-metal catalyst component (1).

    Abstract: Process for the preparation of a supported catalyst for the polymerisation of alpha -olefins, in which (1) a support gel containing silicon dioxide is prepared by (1.1) introducing a sodium or potassium waterglass solution into a rotating stream of an aqueous mineral acid both longitudinally and tangentially to the stream, spraying the silicic acid hydrosol thus formed in droplet form into a gaseous medium, allowing it to solidify into a hydrogel and freeing the hydrogel thus obtained of salt by washing without prior aging, (1.2) drying the hydrogel resulting from (1.1) to form the support gel, and (2) the support gel (1) is loaded with chromium trioxide or a chromium compound which can be converted into chromium trioxide under the conditions of the process step (3), which results in a chromium-containing support gel, and (3) the chromium-containing support gel (2) is heated in an anhydrous gas stream containing oxygen in a concentration of over 10% by volume for from 10 to 1000 minutes at from 400 to 1100 DEG C, the hydrogel resulting from the process step (1.1) being dried in the process step (1.2) over a time of not more than 60 seconds in a shaping flash dryer at an inlet temperature of from 80 to 400 DEG C .

    Abstract: The area is the polymerization of ethylene by Phillips catalysis using (1) a supported catalyst containing chromium, phosphorus and aluminium, and (2) a cocatalyst comprising an alkyllithium, (1) having been obtained by (1.1) preparing a catalyst precursor containing chromium, phosphorus and aluminium from a silicate support, a selected chromium compound, a selected phosphorus compound and a selected aluminium compound, and then (1.2) heating the catalyst precursor in an oxygen-containing gas stream. It is a characteristic of the process that (1) has been obtained by - in each case specifically in the type and manner - first preparing (1.1) by (1.1.1) preparing a suspension first from (1.1.1.1) a finely divided silicate support and (1.1.1.2) an inert organic solvent, (1.1.2) then combining (1.1.2.1) an organochromium compound in an inert organic solvent (1.1.2.2) with (1.1.2.3) a trialkyl aluminium compound (1.1.3) then combining (1.1.3.1) the suspension resulting from (1.1.1) with (1.1.3.2) a phosphoric or phosphorous acid ester and (1.1.3.3) the product obtained from (1.1.2), finally (1.1.4) evaporating the suspension obtained in (1.1.3) to dryness, and then, secondly, (1.2) first (1.2.1) treating the precursor obtained from (1.1) with a stream of nitrogen, then (1.2.2) heating the intermediate obtained from (1.2.1) in an oxygen-containing gas stream, and (1.2.3) treating the intermediate obtained from (1.2.2) with a stream of nitrogen, and finally (1.3) suspending the product obtained from (1.2.3) in (1.3.1) an organic solvent and then (1.3.2) reacting it with an alkylboron compound, and (2) is an alkyllithium compound.
