Abstract: Copolymers I carrying functional groups and comprising a) 20-60 mol % of at least one monoethylenically unsaturated C4-C6-dicarboxylic acid or an anhydride thereof, b) 10-70 mol % of at least one oligomer of propene or of a branched 1-olefin of 4 to 10 carbon atoms, having an average molecular weight Mw of from 300 to 5000, and c) 1-50 mol % of at least one monoethylenically unsaturated compound which is copolymerizable with the monomers a) and b), a process for their preparation, oil-soluble reaction products obtainable therefrom by reaction with an amine and the use of said reaction products as additives for lubricants and fuels.

Abstract: The invention relates to fuel compositions for internal combustion engines comprising a main quantity of a liquid hydrocarbon fuel and a pure portion of at least one propoxilate additive of formula (I), wherein n is an integer ranging from 14 to 18, and R1 represents a straight-chain or branched C8-C18 alkyl radical or C8-C18 alkenyl radical; optionally in combination with at least one detergent additive such as, for example, a polyalkylamine of formula (II), R2-NH2, wherein R2 represents a straight-chain or branched polyalkyl radical having a numerical average molecular weight ranging from approximately 500 to approximately 5000. The invention also relates to fuel additive compositions, which contain propoxilates of formula (I) and optionally contain additional additives such as said polyalkylamines of formula (II) used as intake valve cleaners.

Abstract: In the present invention, there is described a process for preparing polyalkene amines of the general formula I wherein the preparation process is characterized in that epoxide of the general formula IV is brought into reaction with a nitrogen-bearing compound of the general formula V to give amino alcohol of the general formula VI and this amino alcohol of the general formula VI is then catalytically dehydrated and obtained olefin is hydrogenated to give the amine of the general formula I. A denotes alkylene groups with 2 to 8 C atoms, m is a number from 1 to 200 and n denotes the number 0 or 1. The inventive polyalkene alcohol polyetheramines are suitable for use as carrier oils, detergents and dispersing agents in fuel and lubricant compositions.
