    Abstract: A process for preparation of aqueous copolymerizate dispersions from copolymerizates of carbon monoxide and olefinically unsaturated compounds by copolymerization of carbon monoxide and the olefinically unsaturated compounds in aqueous medium in the presence of metal complexes. A process for preparation of aqueous copolymerizate dispersions from copolymerizates of carbon monoxide and olefinically unsaturated compounds by copolymerization of carbon monoxide and the olefinically unsaturated compounds in aqueous medium in the presence of:- (a) metal complexes of formula (I), (b) a dispersion agent and optionally (c) a slightly water-soluble organic solvent. G = -(CRb2)r-, -(CRb2)s-Si(Ra)2-(CRb2)t-, -A-O-B- or -A-Z'(R )-B-; R = H, 1-20C alkyl, 3-10C cycloalkyl, 6-14C aryl, with functional groups based on groups IVA, VA or VIIA non-metallic elements, substituted 6-14C aryl, aralkyl with 1-20C alkyl and 6-14C aryl parts, heteroaryl, a long chain 5-30C residue, which has polar or charged end groups -N(Rb)2 and -Si(Rc)3 available, or a residue of formula (II) q = 0-20; A, B = an r'-, s-, or t-atomic component of a ring system, or, together with Z', a (r'+1)-, (s+1)- or (t+1)-atomic component of a heteroring; Ra = 1-20C alkyl, 3-10C cycloalkyl, 6-14C aryl, with functional groups based on groups IVA, VA or VIIA non-metallic elements, substituted 6-14C aryl, or aralkyl with 1-20C in the alkyl part and 6-14C in the aryl part; Rb = as Ra, and additionally H and -Si(Rc)3; Rc = 1-20C alkyl, 3-10C cycloalkyl, 6-14C aryl, or aralkyl with 1-20C in the alkyl part and 6-14C in the aryl part; r = 1-4; r' = 1 or 2; s, t = 0-2 provided that 1 , E = a non-metallic element from group VA; R -R = 1-20C alkyl, 3-10C cycloalkyl, 6-14C aryl with functional groups based on groups IVA, VA or VIA, or VIIA non-metallic elements, substituted 6-14C aryl, aralkyl with 1-20C alkyl in the alkyl part and 6-14C in the aryl part, or heteroaryl; L , L = formally charged or neutral ligands; X = mono- or multivalent anion; p, m, n = 0-4 and p = m \* n or a compound of formula (III) Rd-Rg = H or optionally branched 1-6C alkyl, or Re and Rf together = a 5- or 6-membered carbocyclic or hetero ring. (2) a process for preparation of a water soluble chelate ligand in which: (a) a compound of formula (IIIa): L-(CRb2)r-L or L-(CRb2)r-N(R )-(CRb2)-L Rb = H, 1-10C alkyl or 6-10C aryl, r = 1-4; R = W; and L = Cl, Br, or I is converted by an Arbuzov reaction with trialkoxyphosphines into compounds (IIIb) in which: L = P(OR )3, and R = 1-6C alkyl, 6-10C aryl, or alkylaryl, with a 1-6C alkyl and a 6-20C aryl part, (b) compound (IIIb) is reduced to a compound (IIIc) in which L = H, and (c) the compound of formula (IIIc) is subjected to radical polymerization in the presence of at least four equivalents of an olefinic unsaturated compound, which contains at least one polar proton active ionic functional group based on nonmetallic group IVA-VIA elements.
