Abstract: A process for depositing metals onto electrically conductive, polymeric carriers, wherein a finely divided metal M having a standard potential Eo of >-2 V is deposited, from a solution of a metal cation compound of the formula (I) Ml'Lm1Ln2Lo3Lp4 (I) where M', L1, L2, L3, L4, l, m, n, o, and p are as defined in the claims, in an aprotic polar or non-polar solvent, onto a polymeric, electrically conductive carrier of the formula (II) [My''(P)]x (II) where M'' is Li, Na, K, Rb or Cs, P is P=-CH-, -C6H4-, -C4H2S-, -C6H4S-, -C4H2O-, -C4H2NH- -C6H4O- or -C5H3N- y is from 0.001 to 0.6 and x is from 5 to 1,000, or onto a polymeric, electrically conductive carrier of the formula (III) [(P)(X)y]x (III) where P is one of the groups listed for formula (II), X is ClO4(-), AsF6(-), PF6(-), SbF6(-), BF4(-), HSO4(-), CF3SO3(-) or Br(-), y is from 0.001 to 0.6 and x is from 5 to 1,000, by reduction, preferably at from -100 DEG to +100 DEG C. The electrically conductive, polymeric systems can be employed in the electrical industry for the production of solar cells, for converting and fixing radiation, and for the production of electric and magnetic switches and electrical storage devices, and can also be used as heterogeneous catalysts and to provide an antistatic finish on plastics.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of electrically conductive polyaromatics; in which the polyaromatics are treated with 0.5 to 5% by weight of a strong Lewis acid having pks values from -10 to +4, with the exclusion of aqueous moisture and of oxygen, and in which the polyaromatics used are compounds having conjugated pi -systems in which at least two polyene chains of the formula (I) and (II): in which n = 1 to 100 and m = 0 to 50 run in parallel. Suitable polyaromatics are quarterylene, quinquerylene, sesquicylene or dianthracene. The electrically conductive polyaromatics can be used in electrical engineering for the production of solar cells, for the conversion and fixation of radiation, for the preparation of electrical and magnetic switches and electrical memories and for the antistatic finishing of plastics.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of electroconductive polymers by polymerisation of acetylene and derivatives of acetylene, and of polycyclic aromatic compounds at temperatures of from -200 to +50 DEG C in the presence of an oxidising Lewis acid in amounts of from 1 to 50 % by weight. The oxidising Lewis acid may be a mixture of a cationic catalyst and a gaseous oxidant or a compound from groups VI-VIII and the subgroups of the Periodic Table of the Elements and/or a combination of Lewis acids from groups III to VI and from the subgroups of the Periodic Table of the Elements with auxiliary oxidants from groups V-VIII and from the subgroups of the Periodic Table of the Elements, and preferably acts on thin films of the monomers to be polymerised. The electroconductive polymers prepared can be used in electrical engineering for the production of solar cells, for the conversion and fixation of radiation, for the production of electrical and magnetic switches and for the antistatic finishing of plastics.
