Abstract: Endothelin converting enzyme (ECE) having mol.wt. 250000 Da and a partial amino acid sequence with at least 80% homology to sequence (I) is new: Xaa-Xaa-Pro-Asn-Ala-Leu-Asn-Phe-Gly-Gly-Ile-Gly-Val-Val-Val-Gly-His-Gl u-Leu-Thr-His-Ala-Phe- (I) Also claimed is a method for the isolation of ECE by (i) stimulation of mammalian cells for overproduction of ECE with an inhibitor of ECE, and (ii) isolation of the ECE. The pref. cell line is a bovine cell line FBHE and the pref. inhibitor is phosphoramidon (PHAM).
