    Abstract: Tertiary alkyl ester production involves reacting methacrylic acid with an olefin in homogeneous phase in presence of an acidic catalyst in a reactor. Resulting reaction mixture is discharged from the reactor. The discharged reaction mixture is separated into a mixture, which contains catalyst and a mixture containing tertiary alkyl ester of methacrylic acid having 4 carbon atoms in alkyl residue. The tertiary alkyl ester of methacrylic acid is removed from the mixture, and a compound, which contains N-oxyl group is added as stabilizer. The olefin has general formula (I). R 1>,R 2>alkyl residue; and R 3>H, alkyl residue, cycloalkyl residue, aryl residue, alkylcycloalkyl residue, which is bonded to the olefinically unsaturated carbon atom via an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic carbon atom, alkylaryl residue, which is bonded to the olefinically unsaturated carbon atom via an aliphatic or aromatic carbon atom, cycloalkylaryl residue, which is bonded to the olefinically unsaturated carbon atom via a cycloaliphatic or aromatic carbon atom or alkylcycloalkylaryl residue, which is bonded to the olefinically unsaturated carbon atom via an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic carbon atom.
