    Abstract: En una modalidad de dialisis peritoneal de la presente invencion, el dialisato consumido de la cavidad peritoneal del paciente pasa, a lo largo de un ciclo de paciente, a traves de un dializador que tiene una membrana que separa componentes de desperdicio del dialisato consumido, en donde el ciclo de paciente regresa dialisato fresco a la cavidad peritoneal del paciente. Los componentes de desperdicio se llevan lejos en un segundo ciclo de regeneracion a una unidad de regeneracion o cartucho absorbente, que absorbe los componentes de desperdicio. La unidad de regeneracion remueve los componentes indeseables en el dialisato que se remueven del ciclo de paciente por el dializador, por ejemplo, exceso de agua (ultrafiltrado o UF), toxinas y desperdicios metabolicos. Los componentes deseables pueden agregarse al dialisato por el sistema, tal como glucosa y electrolitos. Los aditivos ayudan a mantener los gradientes osmoticos apropiados en el paciente para realizar la dialisis y proporcionar los compuestos necesarios al paciente.

    Abstract: A system for dialysis is disclosed. An example peritoneal dialysis system includes a peritoneal dialysis machine including a pumping mechanism, and a sensor configured to measure a property of peritoneal dialysis fluid. The peritoneal dialysis system also includes a disposable cassette operable with the peritoneal dialysis machine. The disposable cassette includes a fluid source inlet for accepting fluid from a fluid source and a fluid flow path in fluid communication with the fluid source inlet. The fluid flow path includes a pump chamber operable with the pumping mechanism to pump fluid through the fluid flow path. The disposable cassette also includes a concentrate inlet for fluidly communicating concentrate to the fluid flow path, and a sensor chamber located along the fluid flow path and operable with the sensor. The sensor is configured to provide feedback to the peritoneal dialysis machine for mixing the concentrate for forming peritoneal dialysis fluid.

    Abstract: Dual-skinned membranes are provided useful as one-way or rectifying membranes which reduce back filtration of solute molecules in dialysis and which improve nutrient supply and product recovery in membrane bioreactors. The membranes are dual-skinned polymeric materials preferably in the form of hollow fibers. The membranes have skins of polymer on the opposite sides with differing permeability to solutes and sieving coefficient characteristics. The skin on each side have pores that are invisible at 10,000 times magnification. A microporous structure between the skins contains pores capable of retaining solutes in a molecular weight range of about 5000 to 200,000 in an increased concentration between the interior and the exterior skins. Improved dialysis devices are formed by using bundles of the hollow fiber membranes as a dialysis member having rectifying properties.

The container comprises a body defining a first and second interior area separated by a wall that terminates at an opening providing fluid communication between the first and second interior area. The cannula includes an inlet opening and inlet fluid flow path and an outlet opening and outlet fluid flow path. The inlet fluid flow path being in fluid communication with the first interior area, and the outlet fluid flow path being in fluid communication with the second interior area. The second interior area houses the solid beneficial agent and allows fluid that flows through the inlet fluid flow path to pass by at least a portion of the beneficial agent.
